About Me

Artistic, hard-working, always busy, involved, social, idealistic... and caffeine-addicted. Oh, and I'm a complete gym nut. I'm currently living in Australia where I am earning my Masters in Design Management... also working in publishing as a book designer. No complaints, life is good here!

My Interests

Salsa dancing, also Bachata & Merengue, working out, spending time with my friends, going out and meeting new people, reading, collecting Mexican folk art, baking, yoga, travel, Soccer, visiting museums and art galleries, just generally enjoying life... Currently taking surf lessons and I am trying to learn how to cook, which anyone who knows me in real life can tell you is an uphill battle.

I'd like to meet:

Friends from past lives, creative people, prospective customers for my label, shopowners, and publications that feature indie designers. Boutique owners and people in publishing in Sydney...

Music:

PULP, Morrissey, Portishead, Joy Division, Massive Attack... a lot of British stuff. Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Nina Simone, Etta james, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis. 80's and 70's music, trying to forget the 90's however. All that great old surf music from del-phi, Dick Dale and the like. And Latin music: Juanes, Shakira, Los Amigos Invisibles, Lila Downs, Santana, Carlos Gardel, and of course all the great dance music.

Movies:

Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Amalie, Dirty Pretty Things, Trading Places, Better Off Dead, Annie Hall, The Women, Auntie Mame, Real Women Have Curves, Muriel's Wedding, The Last Days of Disco... (geez these are all girly!) Godfather 1 and 2 because we all know 3 is complete piss. Barcelona, Run Lola Run, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Hannah and Her Sisters, North by Northwest, Pecker, Central Station

Television:

Red Dwarf, The Office (UK and USA), Coupling, Sex & the City, Arrested Development (even though it's now defunct), Curb Your Enthusiasm, all of the Law and Orders, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Twin Peaks. I love cooking shows...

Books:

One Hundred Years of Solitude, East of Eden, The Grapes of Wrath, The Feminine Mystique, Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions, The Assistant, La casa de los espíritus, On The Road, A Passage to India, Slaughter House Five, Jane Eyre, anything by David Sedaris... oh and that sports book by Joe Queenan.

Heroes:

Those who are brave enough to try and make life better for others... Eva Perón; Cesar Chavez; Senators Paul Wellstone, Hilary Clinton, and Joe Biden; people who open and maintain no-kill animal shelters, Fred Rogers, Margaret Sanger, Martin Luther King Jr; Frida Kahlo, Itzhak Rabin, Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem
