About Me

Born on an old drum loop machine and a used synth box from a rundown downtown apartment in NYC's lower east side circa 2002, a one man band came into existance for Michael. He was diverted from being a broke performance artist/student into a new realm of expression. His first song was made from a nuance of different manhattanic themes; a new noise that related to living this life. "KoKo", a nickname deriving from a personal account and a coconut, had become like the theory of Dada in this sense: a pomo outlook to instumentally composing a lifestyle via recording artistry. Creating beats in response to the street life of growing up in the puertorican parts of the south side bronx, Michael listened to the sounds coming off the street from his apt window and made music: "Just listen. Outside every window is a song..." He infuses two genres of the nineties era: garage roots and the club kid concept, adding an awareness of disco, new wave, and whatever fuels the urban youth in the trash electro scene of the modern day...hence, a hard hitting drug rhythmed motif throughout his upcoming album "Under the Influence" that one can't help to get addicted to. KoKo is currently recording the last finishing touches to his latest ep, finishing up the debut album ready to be shopped to major labels for wide distribution. Look forward to further promotions, news on the release of the upcoming album "Under the Influence" from Genre Prod., suprise performances, and more to come.
