I did it. I finally sent those freaking neverending graduate school applications out and now I'm just hanging around waiting to hear back from everyone. It's kind of nice to check that off the list. Writing my letter of intent to grad school took about 15 minutes and it reminded me that really the place I want to be, the place I need to be, is in grad school with a whole bunch of creative junkies trying to become successful writers. It's what comes quickly...without much of a fight...so I guess I need to stop trying to fake like I'm the type to climb the corporate ladder and embrace my inner artsy beauty.

Christmas is around the corner and my dog has the runs and I'm kinda broke and I just quit my job and started waiting tables fulltime and the bathroom demo is at a halt so now we have a 1 and 1/2 bedroom house instead of a 2 and a 1/2 bedroom house, but everything will be okay. That is...if I get into grad school and write a book and sell that book and get a job teaching at a university somewhere and eventually hit the New York Times Bestseller list and become a millionaire. We'll see. I feel like a lot is riding on the back of that "little" dream. In the meantime...good luck to all others who are chasing that which cannot be caught or at least that which continues to elude them. :)

My Interests

Napping. Watching movies. Playing poker. Daydreaming about horses. Reading. Writing (I'm interested, but seldom actually execute). Root beer. Sweet and savory meals. Entertaining friends. Going on vacation. Relaxing by water. Buying the occassional lottery ticket and convincing myself I will win because I never by them and 'why not me?' Fantasizing about what to do if I win the lottery. Home improvement (currently repainting entire house to rid it of the stench of it's previous tenants). Hanging out with Phoenix. Hanging out with Talin. The usual.Dis-interests: Going into the gas station to buy cigarettes (one of my least favorite activities for some reason), followed closely by being made to stay awake when I clearly want to go to sleep. Watching horror movies. Spending extensive time in any one of the following bars: Stool Pigeons, Lula's, Rum Runners, or The Jackpot. Killing bugs. Putting away laundry. Mopping (Oh how I loathe mopping). The actual act of taking a shower ( I like to be clean, but I hate the process). Figure out what to wear.

I'd like to meet:

Someone that is outrageously funny. I would like to be friends with a comedian if possible. But if you aren't that funny, but fall down a lot or embarress yourself in public a lot, that will do too.

Music:

You know what? People don't like the music I listen to. Frankly, I'm tired of people constantly badgering my musical taste, so I'm not going to disclose it here. Let's just say, I do not allow Meatloaf in my house, punk music is barely, if at all tolerated and the sad fact is I probably won't like it if it's not a catchy jingle I can learn quickly and sing along to.

Movies:

50 First Dates. The oh so cliche, Dirty Dancing (although, I'm not a fan of "Grease"). Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day Lewis...my first crush). Weird Science - it doesn't get much better than this movie.

Television:

Currently do not have a television. It's getting kinda old.

Books:

Just finished the last Harry Potter book and I'm already experiencing separation anxiety. I might have a problem. Lamb (you must STOP what you are doing right now and go buy this book, you will laugh til you fart) and need to buy some more trash. Most recent reads: Angela's Ashes, Running with Scissors, My Friend Leonard, In Cold Blood, Kite Runner (disturbing, but eloquently written), Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (I think that's right, the new David Sedaris), The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, A Million Little Pieces, My Sister's Keeper.Best Reads: Naked, If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home.. those are the first two of the top of my head, but I have too many favorites to mention them all here.

Heroes:

My sister...she always says the right thing at the right time and means it. David Sedaris..I know I am as funny as him, but I can't get it down on paper like he can.

Funniest little kid story ever.

So my nephew, Griffin, is six. He's reached an age where he's trying to hang with the "big" kids in the neighborhood. The big kids are about 8. Since Grif has been speaking to us all like he is ...

My sister - bless her...just...bless her

For any of you that did not previously know, my brother is crazy. Not crazy in the, "you so CRAZY!" good sense, but crazy in the, "Dear Jesus, let's find a hospital and put you in there fast" sense. ...

Back on that dirty traffic circle, looking for the correct exit.

Traffic circles. Tricky little fuckers. So it's all true. The ex came back. You all called it. "You're right. I'm wrong." There, I said it. And of course, he's saying all the right things and while I ...

And so it goes...

It's like this. People have homes that are far away. They pack up their things in boxes and trashbags and they pile their cars to the ceiling with the things they think are important: underwear, lamps...

What is this nonsense?

Okay, so I've been plagued by this symbol: I've seen this symbol all over the place on myspace. It's everywhere, it's taking over. To me, it seemed like a derogatory statement to someone or about som...
