Ok, now this right here might trump the Moonwalkin' bird as some of the funniest $hit I've seen in awhile....wow....I mean, just wow. I've got a few ladies I've met in Highlands Ranch, I'd like to send to her class. A certain 6th District Representative (Tommy boy....) could benefit, as well. ;-)
I created my profile with Myspace Layouts+
About Me: "Sobretodo, siempre ser capable de sentir mas profundo cualquiera injusticia comitida contra cualquiera persona en todo el mundo. Esta es la calidad mas querido en un revolucionario."
"Above all, always be capable of feeling deeply any injustice committed against anyone, anywhere in the world. This is the most beautiful quality in a revolutionary." - Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara Lynch de la Serna.
The best thing about this quote is that it is an excerpt from a letter that he wrote to his children. Wow.....
Saturday, October 6, 2007 We gathered to give voice to history, to speak out against hate speech (a celebration of a genocidal, slavetrader) and to demonstrate non-violently in an effort to educate our community on the importance and the need to Transform Columbus Day into a day of true cultural celebration. We were met w/brutal violence at the hands of the Denver City and County law enforcement present that day.
These brothers stood strong with us that day, watch this film and the one that follows, good quick insight for those still unsure of what all the fuss is about...Please also feel free to e-mail me to discuss further.

MARCHA "SOMOS AMERICA!" EL 1 DE MAYO DE 2006
La Marcha was great! 85,000 strong, though, the police rep's quote in the paper said 75,000....yeah, right. All colors of the rainbow, all ages coming out to stand up for dignity & justice. We gathered together to call for comprehensive & just Immigration Reform. We also want those twisted KKKers in politicians' clothing to know that we're watching, we're listening, we're raising our voices & we will not stand for any more H.R. 4437s. If you bring it, we'll be there holding you accountable to a country of true democracy, true civil rights & freedom for all.
I just don't understand how a nation of largely immigrants can judge other immigrants who came to this country for the same reasons...seeking a better life for their families & a brighter future for their children. All this anti-immigrant talk is divisive, damaging & hypocritical. It's all a matter of historical perspective. Here you've got white militia men terrorizing Mexicans at the border of what was THEIR land. They're standing in Mexico, in Aztlan! And, before that it was Indian country. That's one of the many reasons why when I see the signs people are carrying at protests & putting in their yards that say "Stop the Invasion", I get so pi$$ed. It's like, ok. Stop the Invasion? You first, pilgrim. Unless you're Indian get on the boat, right? lol
Really, though, it's ridiculous. And, as if we weren't in troubled enough times & dealing with enough "them vs. us" mentality, we've got to deal with the occasional debate trying to ban Gay marriage, or define "what marriage is" (read as "let's keep the GLBTQ commmunity in their place"). It's like my buddy Adrienne said, if you don't believe in gay marriage, don't marry one. We need to find ways to unite & nurture common ground not create more divisions.
Our GLBTQ communities need our support. Love is love. When you're lucky enough to find it, you should be able to enjoy it & celebrate it. If somone wants to marry to stregthen their committment to their partner, that's their choice & their business, not the government's. Silly me, I thought they had enough to worry about what with a war they can't find an end to, illegal wiretappping issues, staffers dropping like flies, etc. Well, I'll step down off my soapbox now, just had to get that out of my system. :-)
STEPPIN' OFF MY SOAPBOX & GIVIN THIS HERMANA THE FLOOR. I WISH THERE WAS A SPANISH AND ENGLISH VERSION OF THIS...E-MAIL IF YOU WANT HELP UNDERSTANDING HER MESSAGE. IT'S POWERFUL, INSPIRING AND WHAT CERTAIN F@#$KS IN POSITIONS OF POWER NEED TO HEAR....
I gotta give props to my brothers & sisters fighting against mercury poisoning and other environmental atrocities perpetuated by the Newmont Mining Corp. in Peruvian mountain towns, Ghanian villages, Indian Country here in the States & many communities elsewhere. And, we got some mountain folks uprisin' out here in Denver too! Newmont's HQ is in OUR town & they know now that we will not stand idly by while they take land, poison water & kill indigenous peoples around the world. We demonstrated outside their HQ back in April 2006. Then we followed them to their ritzy secure location for their shareholders' mtg. @ Inverness Hotel & demonstrated there. At the meeting, Padre Marco Arana from Perú, Daniel Owusu-Koranteng from Ghana, Krist Begay & Joseph Moon & legal representative Julie Fishel from the Western Shoshone Defense Project (www.wsdp.org) & Paula Palmer with Global Response (www.globalresponse.org) were all able to enter the shareholders' mtg. & ask questions of Newmont during the Q & A period. While they were in the meeting we demonstrated outside with Carrie Dann of the Western Shoshone Defense Proj., singing songs, sending prayers & telling Newmont we were watching what they were doing to indigenous communities around the world & we are going to hold them accountable. In the end CEO Wayne Murdy agreed to meet with the international delegates & meetings were set. We then left, went back to the Newmont HQ & sang a victory song & let them know we will continue to carry our work & this important message forward. Please go to the web site, www.stopnewmont.org for more information on this important matter! Thanks!

My Interests

http://www.freerice.com

Lots....Spending time w/hubby, our dogs, family & friends. I enjoy going to movies, dancing Salsa and Merengue, spending time outdoors, listening to good tunes, playing my tenor guitar & dreaming of the day when I have a tenor sax again, going to diff. concerts and festivals, b-ball games, etc. I also like to bike, hike, ski and read.

A buddy made me realize I'd been wildly remiss & had no reference on here to my affinity for sports, mainly football & basketball and particularly....well, here are some hints....

Who owns Muckin Fichigan??
Who were the Big 10 Champs in an undeafeated season in 2006-2007?? Then secured the Big 10 Championship and headed into a National Title game AGAIN the following season?
Who had a tremendous Heisman Quarterback in Mr. Troy Smith??
Who's got a coach with SO much talent it's ridiculous??
THE BEST DAMN TEAM IN THE LAND....THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!!!

Oh, my Buckeyes....though I'm a fan through and through, they've given me back-to-back heartache the last couple seasons. Good God. One year of comin' in & gettin' smoked by the SEC, I'll give ya. But, to get your a$$ handed to ya by the same conf. the next year?? OUCH! We GOTS ta get it together. We're simply better than that. We just need to show up & play like it!

Been a Buckeye since before I went to college, so the fact that I went to OU & not OSU poses no conflict (plus, they'd wipe the floor w/my Bobcats anyhow, sad but true). Miss my Dynamic Duo of Craig Krenzel & Michael Jenkins, and, now pinin for Troy Smith & Teddy Ginn (or "T mothafuckin' G" as I call him during particularly exciting plays....OSU football games with me are NOT for the faint of heart). Go make us proud in the Bigs, fellas!

Season had some good indicators of a team with potential. Boeckman looked good, Wells and Robieske did big things and I am stoked about Saines! That kid's got HEART!! Could be my new fave!

And, how 'bout good ole Muckin Fichigan goin down to Appalachian State??? LMAO!! ROTFLMAO!! #5 what? Appalachian who? Granted that squad's nothin' to sneeze at, but if Muckin Fichigan (refuse to use their proper name) is what they claimed to be this past season, that game should have been open & shut. And, what happened, you ask? 21 unanswered points at one point and a final score of 34-32. YES!! I'm not buyin' that, "you should pull for them, cause it's good for the Big 10 noise"...nah, man, MUCK FICHIGAN!! GO BUCKEYES!! ;-)

Miss Troy, T.G., Pittman and Gonzo. Wish TG would given me one more year...that kid was my heart! Also miss my big ole vikings Bobby Carpenter & Nick Mangold. Was so sad Gamble went early & then Santonio had to do the same damn thing. Ah, well, wish 'em all the best. I miss Eddie George from back in the day, Joey Germaine, Big Kat, Orlando Pace, and on and on. And of course, historic props & rememberance must always be paid to Woody Hayes!

Here's a funny for ya'll, it was a bulletin from Ohio State Buckeyes on MySpace
Bud Light and Buckeyes - What A Combination!
Bud Light presents Real Men of Genius
(Reaaaaal Men Of Genius)
Today we salute you, Mr. Delusional Michigan Fan (Mr. Delusional Michigan Faaaaaan!)
Season after season, year after year, you try to justify your absurdly high preseason ranking (clutching at straws!) (Appalachian State....)
Season after season, year after year, you scramble to make futile attempts at damage control when the Wolverines lose to a grossly inferior opponent (How'd Northwestern score fifty fouuuuuur?)
Inevitably, you'll bring up the past, and boast of National Championships won 40 years before you born (those were the daaaaaays!)
You will point out that you have more wins than any other program as though that is relevant to the current season (been playing since the 1870s!)
Go on, ignore that home loss to your arch rivals in the regular season finale and continue to believe that you'll defeat your bowl opponent with striking ease (we'll win by thirteeeeeeey!)
So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Emperor of Excuses, and take comfort knowing that when you finish ranked number twenty, you'll be back to number three when the preseason polls come out next year (Mr. Delusional Michigan Fan!)"

And, I cannot sing the praises of Jim Tressel enough. That man is pure genius!!
And, how bout them Buckeye Ballers? Not too shabby. Made me proud in '06-'07 season. Though I was sad to see Mr. Oden take off for the Bigs, it was hardly surprising. I'm ready to see big things from him!! He's is AMAZING!! Hopefully, he'll get healthy & show us all what he's made of. Such the complete package too, between his ability and his demeanor. So mature for one so young.
And, how foul was that back-to-back heartbreak to (for all you Harry Potter fans out there) "the team that shall not be named"? Nat'l Championship losses football and then basketball to the same evil empire.....damn.

As far as other teams go, I'll faithfully rep for my alma mater of my Ohio University BOBCATS whenever they play, football or b-ball, though we tend to have a stronger basketball program. I don't know though, I'm diggin what Solich is bringin'!! Let's see big things next season, boys! And, the b-ball squad made me proud in '04-'05 but couldn't quite get there the next year. Not so hot of a run in '06-'07 either, but, lookin' pretty tough so far THIS season! LET'S GO BOBCATS!! It's tough to get games out here in CO but I'll usually go beg a sports bar's bartender here & there so I can catch a couple games each season.

Let's go OHIO UNIVERSITY BOBCATS!!! OU!!

When it comes to the Pros, my allegiance sits firmly with the Cincinnati Bengals, Baby! WHO DEY! Dat's right! "WHO DEY! WHO DEY! Who Dey think gonna beat 'dem Bengals, when we get 'dem in da Jungle? I'm sayin' Nooooo-body!" Yeah! I love me some Carson, Chad's the man, T.J. ain't far behind, happy Deltha found his way from D-town to Cinci & of course, Ruuuudi!!! I miss Corey but it was time for him to move on & I think we're doing things we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. And, I hoped for big things from Petey Warrick, but ah, well...whaddya do. However, Marvin Lewis is the best damn thing to happen to that program in waaay too long. Believe me, I know. Now that we're on the upswing & startin to do big things I don't wanna EVER here anyone talk about the bandwagon to me. I've been down since heartbreak at the hand of the 49ers in '88! Boomer & Icky Woods n' shit! That's how deep I roll. Shoo'....Now, if we can just keep certain players on the straight & narrow and out the squad car, we'll be AI'GHT!! ;-)

As far as pro b-ball goes, my origins start w/the Chi-Town Bulls at the very beginning of the dynasty. I got my first glimpse of MJ & the boys in an early playoff game against the Lakers, also featuring Magic who's nothin' to sneeze at. I was hooked & rode that train on out! Man, those 6 Championships were quite the beauty to witness & I'll never forget it. Loved Phil, local boy John Paxson, BJ Armstrong, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Steve Kerr, Tony Kukoc, Da Worm and of course, the one, the only, the legend...MJ. I even followed Phil to the Lakers but Shaq left & Kobe's the devil, so I thought I'd give my new hometown some love a couple seasons back & have been a Nugg-aholic ever since!
Gotta love Melo, Camby, AI. Happy to see K-Mart gettin' his $hit togetha and bringin it. And I miss Earl "the Pearl" Boykins. I called him that cause he's little & precious. :-) He might not appreciate it too much, but it's all out of love. He was my favorite Nugget & I really do think he's amazing. He plays w/a ton of heart, he'll be defensively ALL over guys w/a foot plus on him in height & he can just flat out BALL! Doesn't hurt that he's from the Buckeye state either. However, in line with many things sportwise just sucking in '07.....the Nuggets traded him! Aw, man!! I am stoked that we've got AI on board, thought. I've always enjoyed watchin him & I'm glad he's on our squad now. The Nuggets have a lot of potential & I think George Karl has been a great influence & will hopefully take them to big places here soon!

Also, a year ago, I began my Master's program @ CU-Boulder & became a Buff. It's all Bs w/me...Bengals, Bobcats, (Broncos, somewhat...) Buckeyes & Buffaloes! When it comes to baseball, though it's all Rs, Reds & then Rockies w/a dash of the Cardinals, 'cause Albert Pujols is crazy, nuclear HOT! ;-) So, I gotta give it up for my soon-to-be Master's Alma Mater, CU! Go Buffs!

AND, LET'S HEAR IT FOR THOSE COLORADO ROCKIES!!!! Ya'll made it to the World Series!! Can't wait to see what happens next season! GO ROCKIES!!

I'd like to meet:

My new niece, Maya Nichole!!!! Born 6/14/07 I wanna squeeze her, love on her and tell her that her Tia Sommer and Uncle Matt love her sooo much!!

Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, DMB, Salma Hayek, LeBron James, Rigoberta Menchu de la Tum, Zach de la Rocha, Beastie Boys, Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu Jamal
They're gone, wish I coulda known 'em... Ernesto Che Guevara Lynch de la Serna, Filiberto Oveida, Mother Teresa, my husband's grandparents, Ingrid Washinawatok-El Issa & Mohandas K. Gandhi

Witness one of the many reasons, why Dave Chappelle is pure comedic GENIUS!! Seriously, the man has creative skills that blow my mind! Have you seen the Charlie Murphy True Hollywood story about Charlie & Eddie meetin' Prince? Good God, it's ridiculous! Pancakes?? "Darling Picki"? And, he floats down off the rim after a reverse jam? (insert Little John's voice) WHAAT?? Charlie's right, "there are some great storytellers in the world, but you can't write that $hit"....but Dave and his buddies did! LMAO And, his Wayne Brady bit had me in tears & about to pee my pants. Check both of these out too if you haven't seen 'em.
Also "Live at the Fillmore" is NOT to be missed. "Drink" & "that's doo doo, baby!" have become part of our daily quips around the house! lol Here's a clip of his Grape Drink bit in it, "and, of course...purple".

Music:

I've got fairly eclectic tastes....Beastie Boys, Dave Matthews Band, Charlie Parker, Rage Against the Machine, Tori Amos, GA-LI (my mom & stepdad's work), Johnny Cash, Sublime, Ulali, Tribe Called Quest, RHCP, Debajo del Agua, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, Aretha, Frank Sinatra, Dixie Chicks, Gloria Estefan, Ben Harper to name a few....

Bird that moonwalks...This is really part of its mating ritual! Some of the funniest shit I've seen in awhile!

Movies:

So many great films, so little time...all time faves Breakfast Club, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Princess Bride, Superman II, LOTR Triology, all Star Wars, Selena, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the O.G.), Amelie, Walk the Line...and on and on...I thoroughly enjoyed X-Men 3, ABSOLUTELY LOVED Superman Returns, the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean & HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX.

'How will you be defined in the sexual dictionary?' at QuizUniverse.com

Television:

Like to watch Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, LA Ink, Burn Notice....gettin into Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters too. Have watched Medium since it started and ER. I miss the glory days of Thurs. night NBC....sigh. Miss Will and Grace, NYPD Blue (sniff, sniff..), Friends & Sex & the City, though I'll watch the reruns & relive the joy.
Also, dug the Winter X Games 2006 and the Winter Olympics! Amazing stuff! Did you SEE Shaun White's run in the Olympics? Or the French skiier take the downhill from nowhere? What about Hannah, Gretchen and Kelly shreddin' up the 1/2 pipe! Craziness!
And the "flying tomato" put a smile on my face again in the X Games last month! It was so inspiring to see Ryo go up against his hero and hang w/him, but naturally the Tomato prevailed! Damn, that kid's incredible!
Secret vices are cheesy Real World & MTV in general (though I can't handle Super Sweet 16, I just wanna reach through the TV smack 'em & give 'em somethin' to whine about! lol) & other reality silliness on E and VH-1 (Rock of Love, Snoop's Father Hood, Girls Next Door) & Golden Girls.

Books:

In general, I've had but fleeting glimpses of reading for pleasure since starting my Museum & Field Studies Master's in Fall '06. But, hopefully, I'll graduate in May and can get back to it. Will dive immediately into Harry Potter Books 6 & 7 the day after commencement!
Much like Movies, Music and TV Shows.....too many to choose! Have read Johnathan Livingston Seagull a number of times, just read it again this spring. Such a great book w/wisdom you can't hear enough. Working through the Harry Potters, ready for book 6 & need to keep goin', lovin' them! Working on Chronicles of Narnia...awesome too, finished first 3 (new numbering sys. w/Magician's Nephew being 1 is so dumb...). Back this summer, I read this random old Charles Dickens book I have called the Holly Tree (ugggh...easily missable) and then finished Burning Bright by Tracy Chevalier. Honestly, you ain't missing much if you haven't read that either of those yet. Just my opinion, but there was an awful lot of build up on some key plot points and little delivery. Ah, well, win some, ya lose some.
Also, need to re-read Gunslinger & Drawing of the 3 so I can work my way through the Dark Tower series. Also read the Winona LaDuke Reader, a little while back. She really is amazing. Can we get HER in office, please?? Might start Memoirs of a Geisha sometime this summer. Heard it's incredible. Wicked, too. Also, want to read Princess Bride to see how it compares to the movie. And want to do the LOTR series.
Re-visited some Martin Espada & Pablo Neruda a bit ago to fill a poetry jones that's been building. Re-read Espada's "A Mayan Astronomer in Hell's Kitchen" & read "Alabanza" (also by him) a bit ago. Great stuff! Wow! Maybe I'll get in a little Julia de Burgos soon too. Ooh! Also need to get Leonard Peltier's My Life is My Sundance back from my buddy so I can read it. So profoundly sad that it's been 32 long years for Leonard....

Heroes:

My mom, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Coretta Scott King, Mohandas K. Gandhi, Winona LaDuke, Ernesto "Che" Guevara Lynch de la Serna, Salma Hayek (her drive, her passion for her art, her talent and her bar top scene in Dusk 'til Dawn!)

FREE LEONARD PELTIER, MUMIA ABU JAMAL & ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS & PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE!!
