I am a musician, singer/song writer.
I play rhythm guitars, drums & percussion, bass guitar, and I sing as well. I'm kind of a jack-of-all trades master of none, although I do play on a professional level.
My vocal style is fairly original as is my vocal tone.
My drum style is very solid (no over playing here) and very similar to those of both John Bonham and Abe Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney's band), the feel, heavy foot and all; I have broken more than one kik beater in my time.
My guitar style is a bit more diverse; I have played everything from Prog Metal to mellow Acoustic.
I have been in the studio recording two new CDs for release later this year (LORD willing)
I have released 8 CDs since 1990 and have had a number 1 single on the CCM Charts, as well as four Top 5 singles, a Top-24 Song-of-the-Year and a Top-10 Song-of-the-Year on the CCM Charts.
My strong points are song writing and singing and producing records, not over producing.
I have been writing original songs and recording them since I was 13 years old, as well as playing live with various bands. Also, I have between 500 and a thousand hours of original music, melody and song lyrics since I started writing. Music and melody come very naturally to me. For lyrics I have to be inspired.
I first started getting known for my music back in 1976 with my first REAL band "Exodus A.D.". A "classic rock / hard rock" band. In this band we wrote all our own songs, and, Lord willing, our complete catalog should be available sometime in 2008. This will be the first time these songs will be heard by the public since 1980 when we did our last show.
HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN HAVEN!!!!!!!!! Most folks know me from my band "HAVEN" which was formed in 1988 in New Jersey with the original line-up of Kevin Ayers (Vocals, guitars), Tim Benton (Drums), Andrew Bruner (Lead Guitars) and Edward Bruner (Bass Guitars).
About a year after Haven formed we added a second Lead Guitarist, Chad McCee. After the first year, Chad was replaced with long time friend and former roadie John Farrell (Lead Guitars).
Not long after that we met Thrash Metalers "SACRAMENT" at their signing party. Soon after that we were also signed to the same label, R.E.X.Music.
Our first CD was called "YOUR DYING DAY" and it was released in 1990. In 1991 we released our second effort called "AGE OF DARKNESS". In 1995 the self titled "HAVEN" CD was released. In 1997 a demo CD was released called "STRAIGHT FROM THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR". In 2002 'YOUR DYING DAY" was re-released in a two CD package along with the Cutting Room Floor CD. In 2005 "AGE OF DARKNESS" was re-released with six bonus tracks from "THUNDER BUCKET" my soon to be re-named project. In (2008 ?) the self titled "HAVEN" CD will be re-released with a bonus track that was never released on the original 1995 release.
Throughout the Haven years I was also releasing solo CDs etc... In 1992 the Ayers & James album, "ONCE IN TIME" was released. In 1999 the "ONE MAN, ONE GUITAR, ONE NITE LIVE" CD was released. In 2000 my CD "STEP OF FAITH" was released. Lord willing, I will be releasing a new solo CD, (no title yet) later this year....
I have had 4 or 5 top five singles, with Haven, as well as a #1 single, a top 10 song-of-the-year and a top 24 song-of-the-year on the CCM charts.
