REV. DR STEPHEN TONG made his dedication to the Lord at age 17. Since then, for the past 40 over years, he has preached in cities and villages big and small all over Indonesia, Asia, Australia, Europe and the America.Rev. Tong is unusually gifted. He has a unique understanding of music and the arts and has composed many Indonesian and Chinese hymns, conducting choirs and orchestras. He has even designed a few church buildings and halls. Multi-talented pastors like him are rare among the Indonesian and Chinese Churches as well.Rev. Tong is known to be studious, and leads a life characterised by reverence and a constant effort in improving himself. He preaches with a evangelism, added with his deep thought process, strict application of logic, calm reasoning and fervent delivery method. Tong has been involved. He started the Reformed Gospel Center, various publishing houses and lay-training centers. Rev. Tong conducts Theological Seminars in Asian and American cities annualy. in 1996, Rev. Tong established the "Reformed Institute for Christianity and the 21st century" in Washington D.C. USA. This is an Institution which aims to stimulate Chinese Christians into a deeper understanding of their faith and culture, and is a breakthrough in the present Christian cultural scene.Translations in Indonesian, Chinese and English have been made of his sermons with numerous transcripts and books published. Audio tapes carrying his messages have also been widely circulated around the world. Accolades accorded to Rev. Tong include "The Pioneer in Theological Preaching", "Philosophical Christian Apologist", "The Theological Thinker of the Era", "The Billy Graham of the East" and "The Present-Day John Sung". His meetings have attracted millions of people with numerous conversions and dedications for full-time service made. He is not only God's gift to the Indonesian, Chinese Churches of this generation, he is also part of God's Grace given unto History itself.The Indonesian Evangelical Reformed Church has expanded to include branches in many parts of the World including Europe (Germany), North America, and Indonesia. One of his current ambitions is a project to build a new building (he designed himself) for the Reformed Church [Reformed Millennium Cathedral] in Kemayoran,Jakarta, which will include a 5000-capacity Auditorium,Museum,Concert Halls, and most importantly will be built University of Calvin along with many other facilities.It is scheduled for completion in September 2008. -*Eusebius*
