SKATE TRIVIA
Last Skatepark Visited: Downey Skatepark (Independence Park), 1/4/08
Last 5 Tricks Learned:
B/S Bigger Spin 1 - December '07
Ollie Late B/S Big Spin 1 - December '07
Ollie B/S Big Flip 1 - November '07
B/S 360 shove-it under a flat rail 2 - November '07
Ollie Late B/S 360 shove - November '07
1: It seems like the kids who spend more time playing video games about skateboarding than actually skateboarding failed to grasp the distinctions between Big/Bigger Spins and the much easier, uglier pop-shove it to nose drive. If any part of the trick you're doing involves a front truck pivot (nose drive), it's not a big spin. Or a bigger spin, for that matter. Let alone a big flip.
2: Skateboard video games have also confused people about this trick and its variations. Gonz did a kickflip where his board sailed under a bar and he sailed over it. This was always called a Gonz Flip. Skaters since clay wheels have been jumping over a broomstick, bar, or flat rail while letting their board cruise underneath, then landing back on the board. This was always called "Jumping over a bar/broomstick/rail". THPS has "named" this trick a "Hippie Flip" or a "Hippie Jump". Whatever. All that matters is that in this trick, I do a 360 shove, and my board goes under a flat rail while I go over it, then I land on the other side. Next variation: 360 shove under a bar to nose drive.
Favorite Trick Ever Learned:
3/4 Cab to pivot to fakie (2002 - mini-ramp)
Current setup:
Deck: Baker Andrew Reynolds "Neck Face" (7.56" x 31.63")
Trucks: Independent 139s
Wheels: Ricta Supernaturals Kareem Campbell (51mm)
Favorite recent skate moment:
Grom: "How old are you?"
Me: "32."
Grom: "Jeez. How long have you been skating?"
Me: "20 years."
Grom: "Oh my God. Shouldn't you, like, be a pro by now?".. ------------------------------------------------------L = -2.75

I'd like to meet:

Republican Jesus . The one I've heard about. The one who can save me from this life of debauchery and sin . The one who whispers sweet nothings into George W. Bush's ear."Attack the Muslims, George. Ravage the countryside. Spill blood , and detain thousands indefinitely . Make war, for fun and profit . In my name, Amen."

You know, sometimes I find that a hero just comes along, with the strength to carry on, and you cast your fears aside... and you KNOW you can survive. So when you feel like hope is gone, look inside you and be strong. And you'll finally see the truth - that a hero... lies in YOU.But seriously, I think my hero is Buckminster Fuller. Seriously.
