Josephine Adornetto, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township died Friday, April 6th 2007 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 95.
Born in Gagliano, Castelferrato, Sicily, she immigrated to the United States in 1957 with four of her children, settling in Newark before moving to Iselin 25 years ago. She worked as a Seamstress for several Newark-based companies for many years before retiring 25 years ago. In 1997 she received an award from the Mayor of Woodbridge Township for her volunteer work in the township. In 2000 she was awarded the key to her hometown in Sicily as the oldest native to return.
Her husband, Cataldo Adornetto died in 1988. Her son, Santo Adornetto died in 2006. Surviving are her sons, Charles Adornetto, Joseph Adornetto and Thomas Adornetto; daughters, Lucy Gallo and Carmela Dietze. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
