My Interests

Writing, spirituality, sand volleyball, the beach, weight lifting/staying in shape, yoga, meditation, Reiki and other kinds of energy healing, dancing, running in the rain, reading, hiking, ice skating (just not the falling down part), religion, going to rock concerts or plays, and learning about cool new people, technology, and other stuff.I also enjoy theater and musicals. Oklahoma and Pirates of Penzance are great ones.

I'd like to meet:

Spiritual people, people just starting their awakenings, people who are enlightened, smart people, happy people, stand-up comics in training, and anyone in between that is positive about life and meeting the challenges of life head on.

Music:

Rock, techno, classical, dance music. Shinedown, Hurt, Collective Soul, Sixx A.M., David Guetta, Enya, Celtic music, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Mozart, Beethoven, Darude, ATB, Juno Reactor, and DJ Tiesto are some others. I've also been listening to One Republic, Rihanna, and some other sappy and mainstream stuff for whatever reason.

Movies:

Most things with good plot will keep my attention, but funny movies can do it too. Superbad is funny as are Knocked Up, Wedding Crashers, The New Guy, Hotshots, and others. Lord of the Rings trilogy, V for Vendetta, Syrianna, Batman Begins, The New Guy, Uncle Buck, Spiderman, Amelie, and most movies by M. Night Shymalan like the Sixth Sense and Signs. .. Demetri Martin Stand Up Presentation on FunnyOrDie.com ..

Television:

Not a big TV person. Love Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. I'd rather be creating my own story rather than watching someone else's stories.

Books:

The short story Click by John Barth, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, The Things They Carried, Emptiness Dancing, A New EarthIn the Lake of the Woods (nominated for some really cool storytelling techniques even though it's not the best book), A Kind of Flying by Ron Carlson, Rolling Thunder, Lord of the Rings, and A Christmas Carol. The Portable Jung (still a work in progress). I've been touched by the ideas of Eckhart Tolle, Adyashanti, and Wayne Dyer. I've read two books by the Dalai Lama and am interested in the ideas of many philosophical, religious, and spiritual thinkers. The Mastery of Love and The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz are fantastic.

Manifesting Spirituality in Our Lives

If any of you are vaguely familiar with my growth, you'll know that I'm a big fan of Eckhart Tolle. More specifically, I'm a big fan of his teachings because the man is just a conduit for the informat...

Food for the Soul

The concept of nourishing body and soul has always been an esoteric idea for me, at least until these last months. Since about April and June of 2006, my dietary needs started shifting. For a couple o...

Spiritual People and Communities

Spiritual growth and ascension are amazing experiences to undergo. They're even more astonishing when groups of people are involved. I am speaking anecdotally on the last part. I haven't had the chanc...

Stillness and Change

Stillness is peace, not inactivity. Inactivity changes nothing, our minds tell us. So to be still to many people is to be wasting time, to be avoiding life, and to be non-influences in change. But...

Living Self-lessly in Body and Spirit

It can seem like a tough thing to be selfless. It's not because we don't know how to be good and how to help others. It's because the lines between self and "the other" get very thin to non-existent a...

Growing Into My Spiritual Big Pants

I've probably said this before, but in case I hadn't, the spiritual path just isn't fair. It truly operates by a whole other set of rules, and once you're more aware of yourself and those rules, sudde...

The Brink

My toes peek out over the edge. A smattering of dirt crumbs drift over and pass downwards and away from sight. What's down there I wonder? Have others fallen before? Will I?I'm at the edge. The edge o...

Qualities of Change

I'm always enheartened when people say nice things back to me. I mean who isn't. But I feel like, especially during this time of transformation, that this is particularly encouraging. It feels like I ...

Spiritual Growth: Not for the Faint of Soul

For May, I made a deal with myself; I was taking the month off from worrying and from any sort of strenuous personal growth. I mentioned this in my blog about "Rest." For the most part, May was quiete...
