David Vernon is a self actualized multi-artist. When asked about his singing and who he trained with he will name off names of other singers claiming this how he developed his craft. “Listening to other singers taught me how to breathe, how to phrase and from watching them I developed an understanding of how to deliver a song. Especially in a recording, A song must be approached as an interpretation from which it came, it’s a body of work, like a painting one must often by instinct alone know when to turn on or off which emotionsâ€. In the studio recordings of David are often finished in a single take. Because he is a recording artist who has worked with many different style composers he purposely works closely with those around him at achieving what the composer had felt at the core of their composition.
If asked about his design work and what school he attended he’ll reply, “the libraryâ€. Reading and researching fashion from a very early age has provided the skills needed to create “one of a kind inspirations†From all of that reading David developed the skill of illustration. His sketches are varied in style and exquisitely detailed. From illustration to the body. David taught himself how to sew his creations. Trial and error have presented unusual, interesting and sometimes tricky stitching methods. “I use the term building instead of sewing, because for me fashion is about the architecture of the human form. Fashion allows us to project a mood or be in the blend of things. I’m sure I have some ways of sewing that are not or may never have been done before."
