Blackmale of Supanova Records

Blackmale is comprised of four young men born and raised in the city of San Francisco. Determined not to become products of their environment they decided to use music to turn their environment to product. Coming from the Lake View, Mission, and Hunter’s Point districts, they were each exposed to the harsh reality of day-to-day life at an early age. While attending Lowell High School, Derrick “Quotes” Lomax and Adam “A-1” Traore noted that the majority of the music we listen to describes a life that most will never see; neglecting the need to speak on what is real to us as a people. This would prove to be the foundation for Blackmale. The duo showed much commitment and little aversion as they began to hone their skills, craft their styles and speak on subjects that most would not venture to write about. Their diligence attracted the attention of fellow student Christian “Kane” Turner whose flamboyant and outgoing style complimented the duo who some said were ‘too serious’. Not too far behind was Ryan “R.M.” Maxwell, a close friend of Quotes, who felt the same dire need for a change in the way things were. Thus was the beginning.
