About Me

The One Day Speakers
..

The one day speakers are creating a name for themselves on the Scottish music scene. The four piece hailing from Edinburgh sound British through and through. Buzzing with raw energy and creativity, their electric live performances are matched by their witty social-commentary lyrics. Influences originate in the late 70s/early 80s British punk and continue through to todays current indie and garage bands.

The current lineup of The one day speakers came together in early 2007. With a clear direction and a passion for songwriting they have created a sound which is both familiar yet original. They have a growing reputation as one of the most energetic, passionate bands in Scotland and having recently toured with The Proclaimers, are looking to cement this reputation into 2008. Catch them while you can!

Sounds Like: "vigorous musicianship ... overwhelmingly Scottish vocals....providing a raw edge to a genre often lacking in what The one day speakers clearly hold in abundance: passion... sophisticated take on the Mod-influenced indie of 2008."
&nbsp-Sam Agini, ultimate-Guitar.com
"...Scotlands answer to The Arctic Monkeys...give them a few months and they could well be the band on everyones lips. I keep changing my mind about which is my favourite song but ’Festival Girls’ in particular could be a hit in waiting... The View going mod."
&nbsp-Jim Gellatly, XFM Scotland

"Very mod... [Sofa], you’re Moe Tucker!"
&nbsp-Vic Galloway, Radio 1 and Radio Scotland
"Tipped as potential next big things, Capital outfit The one day speakers have been brewing up a storm on the live front recently..."
&nbsp-Gary Flockhart & Jenna Raffaelli, Edinburgh Evening News
"From the first song, you just knew this was going to be good... the epitome of indie-danceability... this band are emerging and they’re superb." (live)
"a seriously bouncy slice of well written pop-punk-mod-ska songs, it’s huge fun" (our EP)
&nbsp-Andy G, Dead Earnest
"The Clash’s visceral howl meeting Britpop guitars Oasis style...the next hot young thangs in the ascendancy."
&nbsp-Malcolm Jack, The List
"Bad Manners covering tunes by The Jam or The Clash"
&nbsp-Barry Gordon, Edinburgh Evening News

"Very jumpy and British. These Edinburgh hot-rods will appeal to any brit-pop or brit-rock fanatic. I highly recommend lending them an ear. Well done lads."
