I am here for Friends

About Me

This can get quite complex, but I will give you a brief synopsis. I am from Southern California and moved to TN in July of 2005. I have a "princess complex." Now, this doesn't mean that I demand to be showered with gifts and treated like a goddess (although this is an added bonus but really not needed.) This just means that I demand to be treated with respect and refuse to settle for anything else. I insist that the people in my life treat me well because I deserve it. I am overly conciderate, kind, and loyal to the people in my life and would like for it to be recipicated. I refuse to settle for second best thanks to a healthy boost in self-esteem. I don't "beat around the bush." If I want to know something, I am just going to ask it. Now, this can scare people because I am not the most politically correct nor tactfull person. I have deep respect for people that can acknowledge their complex inner thoughts and be willing to be vulnerable, and trust me enough to share those thoughts and feelings with me. Also, I love assertive men. I think I intimidate most men because of my dominant personality and being so tall. Oh, and back rubbies, foot rubbies, and scalp rubbies are often highly welcomed. Although, I have recently started to settle down and get rid of my list of husbands except for Jon Stewert; I will always love him......He makes me laugh. I wish his wife would leave him so that I could have him all to myself. I could move to New York and Write for the Daily Show....On the other hand, I hate a lot of snow, so nevermind. I have become more career and goal oriented and began working on my masters. I spend more time with my family and have ended the "partying" much to my sisters's delight. They have been wanting me to settle down and start playing adult even though I have Tinkerbell Syndrome and I am not meant to grow-up. I am meant to let my Pixie wings soar!

My Interests

I "enjoy" politics, political satire, forensic psychology, reading, swimming, baseball, video games, movies, music, shopping, and chilling with friends. I do have a "list of things to do and learn and do before I die." This includes: learning to ski, golf, fish, play the cello, read mandarin, learn chinese watercoloring, visiting France, and a bunch of other stuff that is too intimate to share with an on-line page. If you really want to know, just ask to see my journal; I keep the list on the last page. I like pretty things and I am attracted to them. I love music, the theater, opera, symphonies, art, museums, and nature. My main hobbies are genealogy, scrapbooking, photography, cooking fancy dinners for guests, being a Harry Potter slut, mentally torturing people, and making conservative southern men blush. I am also very close to my sisters and their kids. I highly doubt I will ever marry and have kids of my own, since I highly doubt that I could put up with one man for the rest of my life. That's like buying a car and only driving that one car for the rest of your life. I do not believe in cheating; that is the ultimate disrespect and selfishness and I don't believe in divorce. I will be a widow before I get a divorce (have you seen a good cliff around?). So to avoid all of that mess, I refer to my sister's kids as "my babies." I talk about my babies all the time and I love Tuesdays because they are "Auntie/ Nephew Day." I am a very proud Auntie! My sisters are my best friends and I am very honored and lucky to be so close with them and to have such a wonderful relationship with them. The only "child" I have is my pet chinchilla, "God." She is my baby and one day she will be my left ear-muff (when she dies of natural causes of course.) I also do volunteer work with the Johnson City Juvenile Courts as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). I work for the Judge as volunteer investigator to represent the best interests of the child in abuse/neglect cases. I have a passion for helping people, especially children that have been abused. Some call it "Superman Syndrome," I just call it doing what your conscience guides you to do. Obviously these children aren't being protected, so who is going to do it? The law rarely speaks for the children, the parents don't speak for the children, and the government doesn't speak for the children. It is our responsibility as human beings to protect these (children, victims, mentally ill, and mentally retarded) that cannot protect themselves. If you are interested in volunteering with CASA in some way, just let me know, but please do not ask me about the cases I am working on; they are confidential.

I'd like to meet:

I really would like to meet interesting people that do not bore me since I get bored easily. I like artistic people, intelligent people, zany people, creative people, and everything else inbetween. I would like to meet all types of people. But in reality, I attract crazy, psychotic people and I am not joking. So please, if you are a bad crazy, give me a break and leave me alone.

Music:

I am pretty eclectic. Some of my favorite artists and bands include: Portishead, David Bowie, Trent Reznor, Dead Can Dance, Pink Floyd, The Killers, Kenye West, Depeche Mode, Tori Amos, and many others.

Movies:

I love to go to the movies. I will watch any movie that has been directed by Tim Burton or if it has Kevin Spacey in it. I love to watch horror movies with snuggly men so that they can protect me when I get scared. I also enjoy comedies because laughing keeps you young and healthy (and the wrinkles away too!). Pay attention ladies: NEVER WATCH THE NOTEBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will ruin your love life because you will come to the realization that no man can ever be as fantastic as Noah. You will go out into the world looking for a man like Noah and realize that he doesn't exist therefore becoming disappointed and bitter. Take my advice and avoid this movie. Some of the movies I like are: The Departed (FANTASTIC!!!), Grosse Pointe Blank, What about Bob?, The Nightmare on Elm Street series, Scream, Usual Suspects, Seven, L.A. Confidential, American Beauty, Breakfast Club, Fight Club, The Professional, The Harry Potter Series, Nightmare Before Christmas, A Day Without a Mexican, The Illusionist, Dogma, Office Space, 10 Things I Hate About You (a modern day Taming of the Shrew), Van Wilder, Animal House, Super Troopers, Feris Bueller's Day Off, Go, Secretary, Pulp Fiction, and Team America; World Police and the list could go on for several more pages, but I think I will stop here. BTW, if you can't tell....I like to laugh.

Television:

I don't really get to watch T.V. that much. When I have time, I watch the Daily Show, 24, Invader Zim, The Tick, Smallville, Charmed, reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mind of Mencia, South Park, My Name is Earl, Law and Order SVU, and The Avatar. I like some Anime: Lain, Fruitsbasket, Spiral, and Kodacha. Kodacha will freak you out. All I have to say is that chick-a-dee needs some Xanax!!!!!!!! During baseball season, I watch Dodger games as much as possible. If you have not had the chance to watch the Boondocks on Adult Swim....DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, it is all about Huey! I wish I had time to watch Heros. I love it but never have time to watch it. Oh, and I have a guilty pleasure and I am willing to admit it and I don't care what you peeps think....I love to watch The Young and the Restless. I probably watch that more than anything else because I am never home consistantly to watch anything else.Plus my soap opera never has re-runs.

Books:

I love to read. The Harry Potter books are my favorite! I have a very unhealthy fasination with Draco and Harry ;) I mostly read crime novels, political books, erotica, or anything by Anne Rice and V.C. Andrews. My favorite books include: "The Sleeping Beauty" series and "The Mayfair" series by Anne Rice, I also recommend "Blackwood Farm." This is where Rice merges the Vampire Chronicals with the Mayfair Witches and introduces Quinn. I also recommend "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath as well as her poetry collection "Ariel", "The Bunny Suicides", "Walden" and "Civil Disobedience" by HDT, and "America, the Text Book" by Jon Stewart. I don't think these counts as books, but when I have the time, I love to read Slash Fiction (especially Harry Potter Slash and Smallville Slash.) Right now I am reading "The Audasity of Hope," by Senetor Barack Obama.....I will let you know how it is when I am done but as of right now, I am having a hard time getting through it. It is just not holding my interest.

Heroes:

My heroes include Henry David Thoreau, Robert Ressler (founder of the "Behavioral Sciences Unit" for the FBI), my sisters Stephanie and Heidi (I don't think they really realize how much I admire them), and anyone that can follow me around, helping me to spell accurately. I would also like to include my former students. They have taught me so much about life because some of them think outside the box, and work so hard against the odds to better themselves and overcome their emotional disturbance and f***ed-up home lives. My former students will never realize what an impact they had on my life.
