Scrape began in autumn of 1993 as a noise project initially meant to be a release for extreme negative emotions. The first demo tapes were distributed throughout the underground tape trading network and quickly went. After 2 demo tapes (Corrode, Chaos of Life), Scrape relocated to Montreal and began work on the third release titled Corrupt.Condemn.Crush. This CD was realized with a collaboration between Scrape and Angry White Mob (LQ from AWM co-produced the CD) early 1999.
Montreal proved a fertile environment for Scrape as the sound changed and became more aggressive (in contrast to the sterile recording of Corrupt.Condemn.Crush). Scrape became a one member project once more (1-k joined in 1995 and lasted through 2 albums before tensions took over), and released Consciousness Razing. This was the first album to fully capture some of the aggressiveness found in the live shows. Songs like Racket and Obsession still remain in the live setlist.
in early 2001 Scrape began working on Coldest of Snows. Early songs were recorded but the death of Erik's father stifled the flow of writing for almost a whole year. The album that eventually emerged was the most personal and biting album to date. Allison joined the group for this release and helped expand the sound and live show. This lead to distribution in Germany through Xtortion and also through Mindwerk in Denmark.
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary Scrape recorded a new album and invited several bands to remix a song. The result was a compelling album that also included Scrape's first official video for Follow Me Into Hell created by Francis Theberge.
Scrape again relocated to Toronto in 2004 and continued to write. Dark Reality Productions was started in 2006 to release Scrape as well as other bands. The first release is 'Cruelest Intentions' released at the end of March. Scrape did two launches: One in Toronto and the other in Montreal as part of C.O.M.A.4. Both shows were successful and helped expose people to the sound. Now Scrape are writing the follow-up material.
