At the ages of twelve and thirteen, cousins Doug and Mark started writing songs arranged for their two-guitar power duo known as the Psychotic Midnight Axe Murderers who repent in the Face of Death. To their dismay the name was stolen by a local cover band, so they eventually changed their name to Doctor Malcolm. The story behind the name Doctor Malcolm is far less intriguing than the story behind the Midnight Axe Murderers, but that is best left for another day.The cousins are both converted drummersDoug is an accomplished jazz drummer, and Mark just squeaked through junior high orchestra percussion due to behavioral issues. These early rhythmic roots melded with psychedelic, classic rock and jam band influences. For several years Doctor Malcolm existed quietly as a duo, carefully crafting the acid folk sound of their early works.Everything changed when long-time Malcolm fan and Marks college roommate, Mo Wilson first picked up homemade drum mallets and pounded away on a broken acoustic guitar. He blended his jazz influences into the mix and the band would never be the same. Mister Mo Wilson has emerged as a driving force in the bands new sound. He has swapped his broken acoustic guitar for traditional hand drums and a drum kit, but he has not lost his nontraditional style. For the past year, the trio has been playing at clubs and bars, and has delighted fans with their revitalized sound, new songs and arrangements of the acid folk favorites. They are currently booking shows in the northeast contact Doctor Malcolm today to book them at your venue.
