The Mind is a Beautiful Garden

About Me

The first aspect of Remy's music is the spiritual content of the lyrics, the melody lines of which ride catchy guitar riffs that slowly take over the mind and settle in ones head like an hypnotic dance. The tone of Remys voice is warm, and wanders unbounded between words and space, notes and silence. His music speaks of the self, love, and living: as the highest art form, as well as the changes we all go through in our lives. Remy was born in Paris, by la Tour Eiffel and taught himself guitar at age 9. In France he forms a band called DYVA, with the classically trained piano player, Antoine Bonnel, they record the single "Motel", with the French label Carrere. After quitting his job as a fashion designer (Remy has a degree in Fashion design) he moves to New York and meets Rebecca Martin with whom he writes, performs, and record, for a couple of years. He opens Rainbow Cafe on Avenue A and 11th Street, a gipsy cafe with a stage, that welcomed performers such as: Mary Lee's Corvet, Lisa Loeb, Fire in the Kitchen, Jessy Harris and Rebecca Martin, etc... He records in 1999 his first CD, 1000 LIVES, an intimate CD about reincarnation and separation, featuring the song, "NO WAY OUT".After 9/11, he releases his 2nd CD, "CAROL'S ON MY MIND", an eclectic CD with diverse unfluences. Produced by Cyrille Taillandier currently working with Lenny Kravitz, in Paris. The title track has the breezy lilt of a Brazilian pop song. The disc's highlight is a bare ache of a track, the voice-and-guitar-only beauty of "How Will I Sow", sung to a daughter. Here, and in the closing track, "Breathing", De Laroque inhabits the same emotive space as Jeff Buckley, wringing meaning out of tone and silence. (Jennifer Kelly). Remy is currently working on a new release, "Where We're From". The new CD is co-produced, mixed and engeneered by Pablo Arraya at Sony Music studio. Due out in the Fall... Remy stands for animal rights by following a vegan diet.
