Summer Dying Fast first appeared in late 2003 admist much speculation and secretive messages being posted across the internet. Once revealed, the members of the band were known to many around the local music 'scene'. Guitarist Matthew and Drummer Gareth (Snoz) played and still currently play in the Post Hardcore band The Blackout (www.myspace.com/theblackout). Bassist Luke is currently still punking it up with Dodgem (www.myspace.com/dodgem). Guitarist Steve was a member of the defunct rock band Xperience and Vocalist Mark (Jolly) was renknown as the guitarist in local punk band Foreign Legion (before leaving a short time ago).
The five musicians gathered ideas and music and a general interest and SDF was born.
The band wrote some original material and bashed out some awesome covers of old classics. They then appeared as the underdogs in the 2003 RM's Rock Club Battle Of The Bands competition. With their unique sound and stage appearance straight from an 80's stage, to the shock of many people watching they battled their way to the final and came in at 4th place, with winners of the competition being the awesome When Reason Sleeps.
The band then decided to call it a day with too many outside issues affecting their ability to practise and play. They came back for a one off special gig at RM's Rock Club in March 2004 before dissappearing one more time.
However, the time is upon us again, its time for SDF to reign one more time.
