Ever since swapping his drumkit for a set of turntables and a sampler at the age of 15 there’s been no looking back for this London born, Devon bred Hip Hop dj and producer who’s no nonsense sets ranging from Funk & Soul through Reggae & Bashment to upfront Hip Hop, R’n’B, Dubstep & Grime, come guaranteed to nice up the dance. As a producer First Aid is known for bringing nothing but heavyweight quality with a versatile yet distinctive sound that has seen him work with some of the biggest names in the industry both in the studio and on tour.
With over 10 years in the game he’s been live show dj for the likes of Blade, Million Dan, Chester P, Inja, Aspects, Humurak.D.Gritty, Extremists and Foreign Beggars, warmed up for touring artists such as Guru, Ice T, Grandmaster Flash, Gza (Wu Tang Clan), Blackalicious, The Beatnuts, Jeru The Damaja and Afrika Bambataa, played at DJ Yoda’s album launch party at Fabric, got drenched at Glastonbury and The Glade festivals 2007 and most recently supported Skinnyman and L.Man on their 2007 ‘Smoking Ban’ tour. All this as well as presenting his own fortnightly show on new Southwest based station Phonic.fm.
In early 2007 following the successful release of Take a Sound’ by The Black Spots, a cheeky bootleg featuring Aspects that reached no.1 in the home-style chart in HHC. “one of the biggest tracks of the year†(Mike Lewis) and got repeated Radio1 play from Steve Lamaq amongst others, First aid released his debut 12†single. ‘Devon Cream’.featuring Million Dan, MCD & Rodney P received widespread critical acclaim including major club & radio support from the likes of the Scratch Perverts, Skitz, Blakey, MK, Excalibah, Andy Smith, Big Ted & Shortee Blitz as well as a playlisted video on MTV Base and Channel U the remix of which recently featured on HHB Radios Vol3 compilation CD.
Since then he has gone on to work on numerous projects including remixing Million Dan and Kappucino’s ‘Deh Ya’ single, providing the scratches for Million Dan’s recent smash single and video ‘Mic Check’, performing drum programming duties on the latest LP from Alabama 3 (the band that wrote the title music to the hit HBO series ‘The Sopranos’), mixing and producing Humurak.D.Gritty’s ‘King Gritty.com Vol1’ mix CD and working towards the release of his own debut LP featuring a cast that reads like a virtual who’s who of UK urban music including Skinnyman, Taskforce, Blade, Million Dan, L.Man, Foreign Beggars, Humurak.D.Gritty, Inja & Buggsy amongst others.
All this and more has helped to cement his position as one of the hardest working and most exciting up and coming dj/producers the country has to offer.
