I'm a 16-year-old female Rapper from Wales, Cardiff. I started taking an interest in music from the time I was around 7 years old, listening to the music my family played in the household. Most of the music varied, my mum was into anything, my dad loved Queen, Phil Collins & The Beegees, and my sister was in love with Dance and R&B but it was my brother who was more into Rap and Hip-Hop. I still remember reciting lyrics over and over to songs my brother would play, we'd sit in his bedroom (when we weren't arguing) and rap together. It wasn't until I was 12 I discovered my love for writing lyrics and poetry. I remember thinking.. 'yeah i'd love to do that' and one day just decided to start expressing what I felt on paper. Id write about anything that was happening at the time really. I started listening to artists like Tupac Shakur & Nas.. who both have a more positive approach towards rap than most. I'd just got the internet, and discovered lots of rap forums where people would discuss it and show their lyrics to get feedback. I spent most of my time writing and got into battling for about a year and a half, by which time I was 13 and had already met I.N.M. I.N.M. is an MC/Producer from New York, Brooklyn. Generally he gave me information I wanted to know and helped me when I needed it. I started to think about putting these lyrics into songs a couple of months before my 13th Birthday.. and had told my mother. My mum bought me a Dynamic microphone for my 13th (which I still use today). I actually didn't get to use the mic until I was 14, obviously I was unexperienced.. but certain things that were going on in my life affected my performance in the first songs I wrote and recorded. After I had gotten over it all, I was back into writing and recording in a big way. I remember recording a track a day for about a month. By the time I was 15, I started thinking about telling more people I rapped, and trying to make an album/mixtape. I had a good response from people, and they seemed to like my music. I turned 16, and made a big step. in March 2007, I had finished my first album "Nothing But The Truth" and given out free copies to my friends and people I knew from school. I then performed in front of about 100+ people at a local youth club. in June 2007, GCSE's were coming up, so I decided to let the music take a back seat for a while. In July, I performed again at the Ely Fate/Festival. In August of this year, I started writing and making plans for my next mixtape titled "The Relapse" which I will be attempting to earn a profit off and send off to some major stations and companies. At the moment, I'm trying to get gigs wherever and whenever I can to promote my music, and I feel my lyrics and recording will be of a much better standard for the next mixtape. Im currently unemployed, but I'm about to start a training course at Imtech, where they'll teach me the basics of music production and radio production in the studio. Im hoping to get my mixtape out early 2008, if possible late 07. Im happy to help any beginners and welcome anyone wanting to feature on my mixtapes or just collaborate.
