Whenever I have any free time I usually waste it doing unconstructive fun things like most people do. It mostly consists of playing computer games (albeit good ones - I do have taste), listening to music in conjuction with a non-specific activity, spending time with friends, or - more often than not - a blend of all three which is actually quite good fun. I like my music a lot and when I'm not doing any of the above or doing uniwork I'm usually practicing piano or guitar (mostly guitar cos progress on piano is so damn hard and tiring), songwriting, reading literature, or watching DVDs. I'm also trying to learn Turkish for a number of reasons but mainly to lose the shame of monolingualism that most English people do not seem to be bothered by.
Western culture jades me and my experience of human nature has made me a pessimist, if you deviate from the norms of either of these then please message me and give me some hope.Oh also if you're a decent musician and share my tastes somewhat :)
Oldies - Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Pixies, The Strokes, The Smiths, The Cure, Metallica, Primal Scream, The Mars Volta, Kyuss, Tool.Nu shit - Isis, Cult of Luna, Boris, Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Atheist, Electric Wizard, Mastodon, Cynic, Death, other stuffz.
Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Kill Bill, American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands (I nearly cried), Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Anchorman. Cinema isn't really my area.
Not much TV does it for me, mostly non-trashy comedies like Frasier, I'm Alan Partridge, Family Guy (I suppose that is a one-trick pony though), Black Books, Blackadder, The Office and the obscure yet superb Modern Toss and Monkey Dust. I also hate to admit I watch Lost, many Star Trek thingies, and some other stuff.
I'm a real slow reader so I don't get through that many books but some faves - the His Dark Materials trilogy, Catch 22, Lord of the Flies, Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray... anything that makes you think etc. Hate trashy stuff (e.g. Danielle Steel) and American bullshit thriller authors like Tom Clancy and Andy McNabb though - to me their books are a waste of your life to read.
Everyone is inherently fatally flawed, and therefore only a fool would idolise a human enough to call that individual's entire being heroic, but William Blake and the idea of Jesus are a couple of decent ones... and Boris Yeltsin :)
