About Me

Myspace = personality masturbation so I'll keep this bit short - read my interests and blogs and make up your mind :)

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

My Interests

Whenever I have any free time I usually waste it doing unconstructive fun things like most people do. It mostly consists of playing computer games (albeit good ones - I do have taste), listening to music in conjuction with a non-specific activity, spending time with friends, or - more often than not - a blend of all three which is actually quite good fun. I like my music a lot and when I'm not doing any of the above or doing uniwork I'm usually practicing piano or guitar (mostly guitar cos progress on piano is so damn hard and tiring), songwriting, reading literature, or watching DVDs. I'm also trying to learn Turkish for a number of reasons but mainly to lose the shame of monolingualism that most English people do not seem to be bothered by.

I'd like to meet:

Western culture jades me and my experience of human nature has made me a pessimist, if you deviate from the norms of either of these then please message me and give me some hope.Oh also if you're a decent musician and share my tastes somewhat :)

Music:

Oldies - Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Pixies, The Strokes, The Smiths, The Cure, Metallica, Primal Scream, The Mars Volta, Kyuss, Tool.Nu shit - Isis, Cult of Luna, Boris, Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Atheist, Electric Wizard, Mastodon, Cynic, Death, other stuffz.

Movies:

Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Kill Bill, American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands (I nearly cried), Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Anchorman. Cinema isn't really my area.

Television:

Not much TV does it for me, mostly non-trashy comedies like Frasier, I'm Alan Partridge, Family Guy (I suppose that is a one-trick pony though), Black Books, Blackadder, The Office and the obscure yet superb Modern Toss and Monkey Dust. I also hate to admit I watch Lost, many Star Trek thingies, and some other stuff.

Books:

I'm a real slow reader so I don't get through that many books but some faves - the His Dark Materials trilogy, Catch 22, Lord of the Flies, Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray... anything that makes you think etc. Hate trashy stuff (e.g. Danielle Steel) and American bullshit thriller authors like Tom Clancy and Andy McNabb though - to me their books are a waste of your life to read.

Heroes:

Everyone is inherently fatally flawed, and therefore only a fool would idolise a human enough to call that individual's entire being heroic, but William Blake and the idea of Jesus are a couple of decent ones... and Boris Yeltsin :)

My Blog

A final blog on why I hate Friday night culture

Uh, after this I'll get back on with my more substantial blogs, but needed to complete this little saga. Anyone who knows me will know that 'going out' on the piss up or whatever is not really my thin...

A small blog to knock the old one off my page

I'm only doing this to get rid of my Leeds '06 blog from view, it looks silly. Anyone at uni reading this may be able to relate, but very rarely it happens to me. I refer to the immersi...

Musical Preferences

Heres a little something I've been thinking about recently. People are generally bigots, you get it in young immature and ignorant people, and you get it in older stubborn people who can't change...

Consumerism

A quick walk in Shefiield city centre today yielded me two things. Firstly was a DVD of the first series of Monkey Dust (awesome, yet the irony in this will be clear by the end of the blog)), the seco...

Self Improvement

A couple of months ago I made a new friend by the name of Luke. Luke is not like you or your friends, or even much like me for that matter, though he is more like me than the vast majority of people y...

Hitting women

Of course as my duty as a mature male of 18 years I am expected to stress the importance of respecting women, treating them as people as opposed to objects, and seeing them as equals... But you guys k...

Leeds '06 (not the whole weekend, I'm too much of a pussy for that)

Yea I went yesterday and thought it all rocked so much I needed to write a blog about it. This isn't a good old ranty one but yet another of my wave of lame ones. So I went on the Sunday, which i...

my blogs are becoming as impotent and dried up as erm... you can probably guess

Well, I haven't written a new blog in weeks and I haven't written a trademark good vitriolic biting one in months, which sucks. I believe the reason for this is that I am no longer annoyed b...

Leaver's do/Prom/Year 13 Ball/Whatever you want to call it

Last night was our year's leaver's do thing. I wasn't looking forward to the prospect of it, I usually hate that sort of formal social occasion where you have to dress up then spend the night talking ...

Heidi

I'm not the type to do the whole emotional outburst over the internet to prove my affection thing, and neither do I intend to do it simply because I wish to keep my personal business my own. Howe...
