At this current moment in time, it seems as if everyone who owns a piece of music production software or equipment is a producer. With so much fresh young talent out there right now, how does one stand out among the endless sea of aspiring producers? Although this question is open to much debate, one thing is for sure: Dutch will make his mark in the music industry. Starting at a very young age, Nicholas Hopkins, A.K.A Dutch, was always a creative and talented kid. While most of those formative years and well into his teenage years, his creative focus was on artwork and illustration, at the age of 21, he decided to aim that drive at a much stronger calling: music composition and production. When asked why the sudden shift he explains, "Well, I started teaching myself piano at 16 and acoustic guitar at 18. With so much time being spent on learning those instruments and always loving the beat, the "backbone" of my favorite artists songs, it was only a matter of time before I pursued the field. My 1st major influences like most 80's/90's kids was Michael Jackson and Prince. Then I discovered Timbaland and it has been a wrap...from the moment I heard those stuttering drums of Aaliyahs One in a Million, I became so fascinated with the process and evolution of music making. Then not to long after, The Neptunes burst on the scene, and that made my desire even stronger. Pharrell showed its okay to be a nerd yet still make hot ass music and gain the respect of a large demographic of people and many ethnic backgrounds. Other influences include Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Kanye West, and so on. With the talent, tools, and drive in possession, combined with the talent of his musical partner and best friend, Kyle Hargrove A.K.A Ill-Eagle, nothing can stop this young man from reaching his dreams of one day etching a path in music history.
