I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'll try to keep this pithy. I like to invent: things both physical and virtual, objects practical and useless, odd metal sculptures, botched together bikes, blueprints for world domination, inventions of utter uselessness, any crazy idea that I can come up with. Professionally I'm a "technologist;" I do "computer stuff." I'm a geek, career hacker, people herder, multitasker, entrepreneur, sloganeer and visionary. Software design and programming, website development, and network and Internet engineering pays the bills. My areas of professional interest are in communications networks, user interfaces, social software, multimedia, and the man/machine interface. I've been on the Internet and helping build and run it since before there was a "World Wide Web." Anybody remember BBSes? Probably not. I run an engineering consulting and services business called Mutiny Engineering. and have recently started designing jukeboxes. I've lived all over the place; growing up in Quincy & Abington, Massachusetts, just south of Boston, living in Seattle briefly, the San Francisco Bay Area (SF, Berkeley and Santa Cruz) during the boom years, and have now set up shop in beautiful San Diego. My preferred libations are dirty martinis, Stone ale, and Maker's Mark. I love Mexican food and sushi (sashimi). Former low-carb crusader, and responsible medical marijuana patient. Ally to substantive people everywhere, wanna-be patriot and revolutionary. Just a kid who wants to go "weee."
They say if you can't say it well, quote somebody who has.

If you would not be forgotten. As soon as you are dead and rotten, Either write things worthy reading, Or do things worth the writing. -- Ben Franklin Of the demonstrably wise there are but two: those who commit suicide, and those who keep their reasoning faculties atrophied by drink. --Mark Twain God does not play dice. --Albert Einstein
Einstein, don't tell God what to do. --Niels Bohr I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success. --Nikola Tesla, 1896 There is not much mental distance between a feeling of having been screwed and the ethic of total retaliation, or at least the random revenge that comes with outraging the public decency. --Hunter S. Thompson "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson

I find it a little interesting, given how few people I have on my "friends" list, that two individuals both have pictures of orange cats as their profile icons.
