Many of you on here drive a car. No big deal, get in turn the key and go. People do this everyday. Well when I was growing up I never thought I would drive an automobile. You see my arms are rather short and I just couldn't see how I would reach the wheel and all the small knobs on the dash. If it starts raining I got to be able to turn on those wipers so I can see the road. What about the headlights and turn signals? I would lay in bed at night when I was 13 years old and wonder how in the world am I going to do this? I felt that being able to drive has got to be one of the greatest feelings of freedom one can experience. I'm sure most of you remember the day you got your drivers license and you jumped in that car and hit the key thinking to yourself "Finally some freedom from the parents!!!"Would I be able to say that to myself when the day came and I turn 16?
"You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity." - Barbara De Angelis
I was sitting at my Aunts house when I was around 13 years old and she asked me "Jeremy, what's your number one dream in life?" I looked straight into her eyes and said "I want to drive a race car." She sat their looking at me and asked why. I said "I'm not really sure, it's just in my heart." That's the way it has to be guys!!! When you have a dream it's way down deep inside your heart. You think about it, you talk about it, you eat and sleep it. No one can talk you out of your dreams.
"Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you." -Marsha Norman
The day came and I got my first car, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS. I bought it from Robert Peltier. It was a nice looking car. Paid $3,500 for it in January 1991. First came a different cam then a different intake then Dart racing heads then racing slicks etc, etc, etc.. After a couple of years me and my father had modified it slowly into a 12 second quarter mile drag race car. I bought a trailer for it and then me and a buddy Wayne were off to the drag races on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived in Hallsville Texas Race Park and entered it into the right class, "no electronics". My buddy Wayne helped me get my helmet on and got me strapped in the car and ready go. I won round after round. I will never forget my competitors loading up thier cars and wishing me good luck as they left. They had a puzzled look on thier faces knowing it was my first time there. After the night was over I placed in the semifinals out of the 48 cars and left the track at 4AM!!!! This was my first time out and did way better than I thought! I was hooked!
I not only learned to drive a car but I raced one whenever I got a chance. When I turned 16 I got my license!!! I hit the key and set both back tires on fire and never looked back!!! My new dream is to run a 8.90 quarter mile car. I've shared that dream with some, they couldn't see it because they lack the understanding of what dreaming is. When people act that way it does nothing but fuel me even more. The day will come when I own a 8.90 Super Comp Dragster and I'll be found kicking everyones butt in NHRA Division 4!! I don't care what anyone says. My dreams can't be stolen from my heart. I've proved it time and time again that with hard work and determination anything is possible!

I encourage you to dig deep down inside and never give up on your dreams! Don't allow negative thinking to stand in your way. Don't let outside people that don't understand them to burn them out. Let them burn with the brightness of a blazing tourch within your inter most being!!! I know inside of everyone of you there is a heart of a Lion, Courageous and bold!
