About Me
Some fun facts about 91.7 FM WXCI...
91.7 WXCI is a student run college radio station located on the mid-town campus of Western Connecticut State University.
Since our inception in 1973, WXCI has remained the second largest college station in Connecticut, pumping 3000 watts of power through our transmitter.
We don't discriminate. You can hear music from all genres at any time of day... hiphop, metal, indie-rock, americana, classic rock, jazz, punk, reggae, techno, folk, dance, experimental, industrial, hardcore, alt-rock, avant-garde, power-pop, funk, electroclash, country, ambient, ska, grindcore, bluegrass, electronica, psychadelic, British invasion, elevator music, blackmetal, drum and bass... pretty much anything that's considered music.
We also have several topical weekly talk shows, including Sports Jam and WestConn Happenings. Also on weekends, we continue to broadcast at all of WCSU's sports events in Danbury, including football, basketball, and hockey games.
Since August of 2004, our highly advanced state-of-the-art DJ-ing computer (A.K.A. "Super-Computer") has been helping us out, spinning between DJ airshifts, making it possible for us to broadcast 24 hours a day. Super-Computer also helps promote some of our specialty shows, and plays several informative Pubilc Service Announcements. The one downside to Super-Computer is that he's very shy, and this has lead to many listeners wondering about all the music he's been playing, since he doesn't say the names of the songs or artists. We are working on fixing this problem. In the meantime, listeners can feel free to contact WXCI while human DJ's are on the air, and we'll help as best as we can. Afterall, WXCI is a station by music fans, for music fans.Request Line: 203-837-9924
