The Stones...Beatles...Oasis...GnR...Motley Crue...STP...Lenny Kravitz...Led Zep...Audio-Rage-Garden-Against-The-Sound-Machine-Slave...DR .Dre... Iggy/Stooges...Ziggy/Spiders...Jane's Addiction...I checked out a real cool film a while back called DIG ! It follows the careers of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols love/hate/ friendship over the course of a 7 year period...Its an outstanding film...and consequently I have become friggin' obsessed with getting everything I can from both bands...especially the BJM because they are one of the most amazingly talented and fucked up rock and roll bands that there ever was... plus the new bands I check out here on myspace...And tons more that have come and gone over the years...but every now and then a brain cell goes away...

Not every day can be Nursry Rhymes and Care Free Frivolity and you need a tune to give you an Edge. "Outshined" by Soundgarden is the riff for me. If I was picking the song for my BMF song ; that is it. There is a cool confidence that just rolls at the tempo I do...You know what I mean...when you just have to feel like a BMF...If you don't already have a BMF song you should..It's the best way to go for those times you don't have your ipod or whatever. Of course you can have alternating BMF songs...But its kind of like cheating in a way...Always in your heart of hearts there can only be... ONE BMF Song!

I love the use of music in films. Like the scene in "True Romance" where Brad Pitt's Good Karma Stoner Guy is tokin' on the couch when the mobsters come in lookin' for a suitcase full of product...Pitt offers to share ...Wiseguys decline...and the whole time Soungarden is just cranked in the back...

I love the Stones Can You Hear Me Knockin? in both Blow and Casino. ..The whole time just massive levels of crime is going on, and The Stones are right there.I'm into the way Scorsese uses them in all of his movies...Like in Casino where he has a Stones tune goin' in each decade of the story, but he throws in a little Devo and other bands doin' covers of The Stones...Cream's,White Room playing in Goodfella"s before Deniro decides to whack his crew...There is a movie called "Fall From Grace" i think with Sean Penn and Gary Oldhman about an informant in the Irish Mob. There is a cool scene where Gary and Sean are driving in a big-ass-gas-guzzler while they are swiggin' on a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey...The whole time "Street Fighting Man" from The Stones is blastin'...Marty seemingly will only take a chance when Deniro is in the shot. Take the scene in "Casino" when there are 2 guys sending electronic signals back and forth at the blackjack table and our hero Deniro is on to them...Scorsese options to use the Jeff Beck group's version of "Ain't Superstitious"...Beck on guitar, Rod Stewart on vocals, and Ron Wood on Bass. Of course Woodie has been in The Stones since like 1974...so Marty got over on us by envoking the 6 degrees of seperation clause and staying only 2 steps from The Stones.You can even go back to "Mean Streets" Marty used "Jumping Jack Flash" to introduce Robert Deniro's degenerate gambling charecter...and Clapton's Cream in the trailers for the flick...
Do you think I'll get whacked for calling Mr. Scorsese, "Marty" ? It would be a shame since Marty could obviously see that I have not only purchused, but studied at least 3 of his best Mob Flicks !!! Don't even get me started on "GoodFellas"...Henry Hill dealin' to "Monkey Man" by The Stones....ic...If you can't tell by now, I think music can enhance the film, just like the film can renew the significance of music...Now that you can go out and buy/rent "The Departed" on DVD you can check out how once again Marty opens up the film with "Gimmie Shelter" from the Stones with Jack Nicholson's cool gravely voice-over the top talkin' about his life of crime...and then as you watch the rest of the film and more crime and corruption ensues...you will wonder what other Stones tunes will Marty throw in...but he sticks with "Gimmie Shelter" and uses various parts all thru the movie...fu**ing genius :)
