I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I enjoy a full-bodied Tempranillo.

My Interests

Lemon tarts, rooms that fill up with air, carbonated beverages (Dr Pepper, Perrier, Champagne...), rubbing a cat's belly when he's asleep, looking up at the clock after losing track of time while engaged in deep or frivoulous discussion, petting small animals, dancing in clubs with people I don't know, that loud slurp noise that you get when you hit the bottom of a drink, taking photos of my friends laughing, drinking lapsong tea in my room when the air conditioner's cranked up to high, laughing loudly at work when a friend has sent me an inappropriate e-mail, the feeling in the air when it's Autumn. Secretely I miss my VOLVO and Waffle House.

I'd like to meet:

Justine Fleischman and Nicolas Ghesquiere

Music:

PULP, The Smiths, Nina Simone, T. Rex, Magnetic Fields, Depeche Mode, Nancy Sinatra, Patrick Wolf, Elastica, and those damn Minogue sisters and their insatiable hooks.

Movies:

Belle du Jour, Jules et Jim, Manhattan, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, All About Eve, Chinatown, Heathers, and horror movies

Television:

press your luck (my mom swears she used to watch this when pregnant with me, maybe that's why...)

Books:

Right now I'm reading a history on Turkey, Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales and Diana Vreeland's memoirs. Favorites: 1984, The Sun Also Rises, Valley of the Dolls, Invisible Monsters, The Screwtape Letters, No Lifeguard on Duty, Edie Sedgwick: American Girl, Scarlet Letter, Great Expectations, Rules of Attraction, The Crucible, Of Human Bondage, The Masque of the Red Death, The Story of O, Madame Bovary, social critiques, history (esp. the Carthaginians, The Byzantines, the Persians, and the Macedonians),and memoirs like Traci Lords, Robert Evans, etc. Ooh and Dorothy Parker.

Heroes:

Hannibal Barca of Carthage or anyone else who uprooted themselves to live out a lifelong dream

when Paris is just outside your window

Just now I was awoken at my desk by an unfamiliar squeal. As I work in an office depressingly empty of any sound, a squeal is particularly startling. I look outside for the source and it is none othe...
