The Imaginary Band

About Me

The Imaginary Band is an East Texas based rock trio that performs an original mix of vintage crunch with buoyant acoustic driven ditties, laced with thoughtful lyricism in a combination that is altogether spirited and entertaining.JD, Elbert, and Stacy are well-seasoned veterans of the Texas music community, and have performed together off and on, in a variety of combinations over the years.Over time, each member took turns going astray, or running amok, occasionally wandering off to self-indulge in this or that fleeting flirtation and odd one night stand with other bands and musical projects, inevitably coming back to their senses AND The Imaginary Band - a trend-defying bastion of timelessness, that is altogether thoughtful, rocking, atmospheric, engaging and real. The latest manifestation of The Imaginary Band is enjoying its first outing as a trio. The group re-formed "for the fun of it," in 2004 when the they locked themselves inside the old Liberty Theater located in the heart of Tyler, Texas. It was there, in the summer of 2005, with the help of Bob Gentry, where they recorded the basic tracks for their recently released CD, “Old Soul Shine.” The disc’s sixteen original songs illustrate a good cross section of the band’s deep catalogue of crafty original music. From the dynamic electric rock of the title track to the acoustic jangle of “Dreamless,” the album’s closing song.Disinterested in notions of fame and fortune, The Imaginary Band embraces music not as a market driven means to an end, but as an end in and of itself. Having taken its sweet time getting to that point, the band feels they have finally arrived with their “Old Soul Shine “in hand. With it they have extended an invitation to any and all kindred spirits to come and join this celebration of words and music.

Influences: Life, Love, Spirit, Flesh, Wonder, Timelessness, great foaming liquids and tasty salty snacks... ...Ain't it all just too much? Music is everywhere, within and without. You can't help but be influenced by it, unless you're an unfeeling automaton with defective sensors. But, then, even a robot can do The Dance.
Sounds Like: A lot like JD, Stacy, and Elbert, with all they have absorbed during their lifetimes. "They effortlessly mix occasions of vintage styled crunch, bouyant outbursts of acoustic driven ditticisms, with often self-indulgent but always thoughtful verbosity..." Said some guy somewhere sometime ago......In the end, IT is ALL up to YOU.Cappuccino
