wow...i love to do a lot of things.... pretending i know how to play the piano is soothing on my worst days... am currently working on learning a song from elton john...don't let the sun go down on me.... is coming along fairly well...of course i will never be as good as he is on the piano...but yes...his music is up there on my list of WOW.... another passion of mine is karaoke... it would seem that i have lost the stage fright and have become somewhat of a karaoke slut...my hubby is happy to play sober cab and comes to sit and watch...dance a bit and encourage my singing...and so i will go on as long as i can sing...thank you so much to ralph, chell and kevin for encouraging me to go on... another time consuming passion of late is quilting...not by hand...but the actual making of the quilt squares and putting it together ... i love the way that something that looks so hideous on a bolt in the store can be cut up with other fabrics and become something so beautiful...at last count i have made over 3 dozen various quilts of various shapes and sizes... and that does not include the smaller table runners or potholders that have been done on the side...i probably need to join fabricholics anonymous....yes its that bad...cannot pass up the chance to buy another "fat quarter" of fabric if it is just the right color or catches my interest....on to my other passion... reading...anything that has nora roberts' name or debbie macomber's name on it is probably on my bookshelf right now...i love to do other things too ....walking along the beach... watching the fish swim in my pond... playing mah johngg on the computer... planting flowers in my flower boxes in the spring and watching them blossom in the hot summer sun... watching the leaves change color in the fall.... fishing on the lake on a calm sunny day...cheering on my son and his baseball team in the freezing cold spring weather... and sweating out that last pitch in the last inning of the last game of the summer... hoping for another hit... watching my grandchildren grow by leaps and bounds... becoming mini versions of their parents before my eyes... laughing with my friends... crying with my friends... shopping with my friends... i love to write poetry... creative writing was my thing back in high school... maybe i should start a novella.... or write children's books... anyhow... that is all i can think of for now... okay...a lie...but if i go on this could become that novella...LOL!!
God... i truly believe it was the "talk" that i had with him after i became seriously ill that helped me to become healthy again... he helps me through my roughest days and celebrates with me on my best days.......... i would also love to meet my fave authors....to know where the inpsiration for their books comes from...i would want to meet john denver, barry manilow and neil diamond to thank them for their music...it helped to get me through all that my recovery entailed....the good times and yes the bad... thanks guys!! ... i would love to meet my great-grandparents....i was much too young when they passed on... it would be a great conversation to be able to compare the times of their youth to the current times!!
i love country music...not the truck driving twangy stuff...the modern day stuff that is more reminiscent of the soft rock of the 70's and 80's.... reba, wynonna, faith hill, jo dee messina.....garth brooks, alan jackson, toby keith, randy travis...alabama....little texas...and of course those from the past....eagles...led zeppelin...fleetwood mac...the carpenters...jim croce... barbra streisand...gloria estefan...leann rhimes...and many others...
anything that says "chick flick" ... i also love comedies...especially those with adam sandler....and jim carrey....any movies with meg ryan or tom hanks and especially the old musicals with fred astair and debbie reynolds... i have a fond heart for fiddler on the roof and the sound of music...thought the original three star wars were the better of the whole series...gave a thumbs up to most of the star trek flicks...still watch ice castles and wish i was lynn holly johnson skating with robby benson....LOL...i remember when they flooded hennepin avenue for the preview of that film in downtown minneapolis!!
anything csi....totally hooked on general hospital happenings....and yes...i am a reality tv junkie!!!
i loved the "left behind" series...makes a person sit and wonder.... i also mentioned earlier my passion for nora roberts trilogies and debbie macombers books of people that could be your neighbors...such great story lines from both of these women!!!
my husband is my hero!! i love you jeff!!!
