About Me

| View Show | Create Your OwnAs of late, I find myself spreading fear in the hearts of Hungarian youngsters. In other words, I am a teacher. What else is there_ Well, since I am typing on a Hungarian keyboard, I canát punctuate properly. Thatás the story of my life these days: things are ALMOST familiar, but then, life throws me óöüóoé.

My Interests

I enjoy wandering the cobbled streets of old Hungary, taking crappy photos. I am also interested in avoiding any impending riots.

I'd like to meet:

My lovely nephew Elijah and his handsome daddy, my new cousin-in-law. Jimi Hendrix. Caesar Augustus. (Ok, so my Latin sucks, but hey I'm imagining here!). Robert Johnson. Lewis Carroll.

Music:

Yes have some.

Movies:

I have yet to see a Hungarian movie. I fear the dub.

Television:

None of my channels are in English. M2 (That's Magyar tv channel 2) has some fascinating cartoons that look like the late 60s, (Time for Timer style,) but came out in the 90s.

Books:

Through the Looking Glass. Slaughterhouse Five. Poetry by Catullus. The Satyricon. Lamb: the Gospel According to Jesus' Childhood Friend Bif (or some such title). As I Lay Dying.

Heroes:

Caesar Augustus all the way. The man knew how to manipulate his public. John Lennon. Steve McQueen. My Mom, who is the coolest person I know.

My Blog

Lollapalooza

First off, some general comments about Lollapalooza 2006. The view throughout the park is stunning: just beyond each stage is a line of thick greenery, blocking out the cars and traffic noise. Skyscr...

Sarah the Pest

I've outed myself.  Yes, that's right, I officially put in my notice at work.  One month from today I will be living it up in the lovely (and sultry) NYC.  Then, on to Budapest for the ...

Party Pearl Jam and Pastries

This has been one hell of a week.  Saturday night, my friends -- draped in fabric -- joined me at the villa.  My third annual Symposium, (toga party to all you laymen), was a success!  ...

A Rolling Stone gathers no moss

Last night, I witnessed the Greatest Rock'n'Roll band in the world.  Truly the epithet is well-deserved.  Admittedly, my seat wasn't the best in the house:  my tickets placed me in an a...
