Any Wilco, Jeff tweedy, or side projects (Loose fur, especially); Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Jay Farrar, The Band, Radiohead, Daniel Lanois, Abernathy, Chuck Prophet, early Genesis, Peter Gabriel, David Gray, Teddy Thompson, Ben Folds (Songs For Silverman rules!!), Son House, Bob Dylan, Bluegrass including Bill Monroe and Sam Bush, Big Wreck, many 80's cock rock bands. About any classic Jazz including Miles, Coltrane, Andrew Hill, Monk, Bobby Hutcherson, Hank Mobley, etc.
Anything concerning the Mafia or NASA. I like movies that make me feel uncomfortable. I also like Todd Solondz, Palindromes is rock ass!, all of the Beatles movies (especially Help!, Ringo is fuckin funny), the Grateful Dead movie, Ken Burns Jazz series, Unforgiveable Blackness-the Jack Johnson story, documentaries of all sorts including Fog of War, Filth and the Fury, SuperSize Me, Enron, etc. New to this list: Capote! I couldn't sleep after I watched this, PSH is awesome.
