About Me
In August of 2004 five leftover wrecks assembled to create the band
"Avarice to Lace". Sick of generic (rip-off) sounding bands turning up
across the country, extra time and care went into the creation of all
audio ever claimed to be a product of this unit. Comprised of three
compitant musicians of the ultra melodic "Jeneva", one member of Burning
Sophie and one politcal nutcase from the shortlived "Detach", the band
quickly gained a reputation of throwing down an intense live performance,
While blasting out track after track of pure precision playing.
In November, the band signed with a brand new label called "Arcanum
Records" and began pre-production for their first recording "The Sound of
Type". In late December, bassist "Ryan Johnston" (ex-Burning Sophie)
left the band due to personal reasons. The band decided to start an
intensive search for a new bassplayer. Charles Curtis was aquired in early
January from the Moose Jaw grown band "Deadlift". While the members of ATL
stayed weary of Charles in the beginning he quickly became the only
obvious choice to fill in the backbone.
March of 2004, the politcally charged, "SOT" was recorded and started the
entire North American continent chattering about the quasi-swedish sounding
Canadian Band. Steam rolling acts like Black Eyed Peas, Nine Inch Nails &
Billy Corgan for weeks on end, (on myspace charts) caught the attention of
Brian Ball from "Ernie Ball USA". ATL was then added to the line-up at the Vans
Warped Tour and just weeks after the first ep was professionally pressed.
Throughout the rest of the summer the band spread their vile brand of noise-core
by playing in a myriad of places in both Saskatchewan and Alberta. Playing with
and becoming good friends with some of Canada's most amazing acts, such as The
Bleeding Alarm, Gueronimo, A Textbook Tragedy, Kincaide & etc.
After an exausting summer, ATL convinced all the original members of the former
-HC outfit "Indignance" to reform. Things went over so well that both bands
decided to do a split recording together. The disc is set to be dubbed
"Anti-Audio to the Full Motion" Afterall the majority of ATL were raised in
Lumsden SK, so it only made sense to showcase the comraudery between these two
groups. Even Princess, Amoz and Joe Mcleod used to play together under the
name "Before the Mayflower". The disc is set to be released on Arcanum Records
on June 5th 2006.
During the middle of November 2005,"Avarice to Lace" entered Touchwood Studios
and began tracking their follow-up to "SOT". Johnny Gasparic (Western Canada's
Engineer of the year) produced the four tracks that were a departure both
lyrically and musically from the first ep. The song construction was even more
wild and technical but retained more flow than it's predecessor. The subjects of
each song were more directive to events and subjects that have yet to be discussed
in a hardcore format.
This May, ATL in joint effort with Endemik Music plans to finally share
it's new brand of audio with the rest of the country by going on tour to the west
coast and back. Bleubird, a hip hop artist from Florida (& Endemik recording
artist), will join the tour titled, "Avain Accelerate 2006". With hip hop and HC
fans becoming one in the same group it was only logical to try and pioneer the
feat. Also ATL will be playing with a raft of unique acts throughout this quest,
such as Epic, Tombstone Diaries, Kincaide, Riviera Hiest, Nolto & Josh Martinez.
Recentley, ATL has acquired a booking agent & plans to burn their mark into side
of the Canadian East Coast in Fall of 2006.
"Politics & a general threatening appearance I think is key to this type of music, but overall, for the most part it's all about having fun."
Buck (vocalist of Avarice to Lace)
