After playing in several cover bands in Boston and New York over the past few years, twenty-three year old singer-songwriter John Brazile has written an album of his own called Commencement.
The album is a mix of gritty Americana and roots-rock in the style of Ryan Adams, the Wallflowers, and The Counting Crows. Brazile recorded much of it in his home studio in Worcester, Massachusetts in early 2008. He has recently been racking up car mileage for gigs in Memphis and New York in support of the album.
College audiences were introduced to Brazile via his previous EP, Sessions, as it received spins at a handful of college radio stations in the Northeast. Subsequent shows from ski resorts to frat-house basements have helped the band to develop their live act.
Brazile is currently performing with several groups and working to promote Commencement. Tours of the East Coast and South are planned for the remainder of 2008. There are two new albums in the works as well.
