To Know Me Is To Love Me. Usually.

About Me

Music projects summary:
I'm in EWag3 , playing bass and singing backup. I play bass (and providing some backing vox) with Friends Of Lynn. At this time, Chromasoul has committed to re-recording our songs, but there's been no movement on that front for months. Jack Scott is rumored to be back in town. Wonder if he'll get in touch with me... wonder if he still has my Taxiride CD. I am no longer in Undermine.

Interested in collaborating? Let me know!
Now here's the rest of the "Getting To Know Me" crap...
You're looking at an aspiring Renaissance man with far-ranging interests. Knowing a little about a lot of things can get me into trouble. Usually I emerge relatively unscathed, sometimes not. Hey, that's life!
My main interests are the computers that pay my bills and the music that helps me unwind. I am currently in E Wag 3 (a rock/blues/improv jam effort) and Friends Of Lynn (a primarily-acoustic endeavor - for now).
If you can't tell by my pictures, I play an extended range bass and also contribute backing vocals from time to time.
My friends say I'm a friendly, laid back guy that's always willing to lend a hand - which is how I've found myself in some very iiiinteresting situations over the years. Need someone to drive a forklift? Or wrestle a roto-rooter? Team-drive to Cincinnati (OHIO?) and back in 24 hours in a friggin blizzard? Replace a transmission? Load a band in, run sound and lights, and load 'em back out again? Build a greenhouse? Yeah, I'm the guy that gets called!
My motto seems to be "I'm here to help", and I'm okay with that.
Three important words: Real friends subscribe. Be a real friend and subscribe to my blog , because I write more blog entries than bulletins.

My Interests

Music (listening to and playing, food (cooking and eating), reading, good conversation (defined as "an exchange of ideas", not "Yo!" ... "'Sup?"), and solving problems.

I can turn a wrench and swing a hammer without too much complaint, but I damned well hate yardwork.

Generally speaking, I gravitate towards animals (especially dogs), pasta, tiramisu, and brunettes ... not necessarily in that order.

I'd like to meet:

You, maybe. How did you wind up on my page? Who do we both know, what do we have in common?

Everybody has something to say. What's your story? Tell me something that I'll never forget.
Note to bands wanting to add me: I've disabled friend requests from bands. Send me a message. If I know you or like your stuff, I'll send you a friend request.

SPECIAL NOTE TO MY BANDMATES AND FRIENDS!
MySpace's calendar feature is an unreliable piece of crap. Please CHECK MY CALENDAR HERE before booking gigs.

Music:

Where to start? I can appreciate a jaw-droppingly wide range of music, but I prefer rock with a bit of an edge - which is how I like to play it, too.

I would rather not listen to most rap, most country, any angst-filled emo, most club/trance, any damned boy bands, or anything that has little-to-no musical value. I don't have time for uninteresting crap.

Movies:

What I like in movies and books are pretty much interchangeable, so take a look below.

Has anyone ever made a movie from a cookbook?

If/when they make a movie from one of Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" books, I am SO there.

Television:

Back when I owned a TV, I was a Food Network junkie. The Discovery and History channels got a lot of time, too. I like to feed my brain.

And if The Godfather's on TV, I'm going to ignore everything and everybody else in the room. Sorry. If you set the couch on fire, I'll only scoot my ass away from the flames and keep on watching.

Books:

Pretty much the entire Science Fiction / Fantasy section at the bookstore.

Throw in some good general drama and fiction.

Philosophy, too: Pirsig and Rand are required reading.

And some computer-related stuff.

Cookbooks, too.

Yeah, that should cover it.

Heroes:

Family and friends.

Phaedrus, Howard Roark, John Galt, Equality 7-2521.

Sam Vimes, Carrot, Detritus.

Pug, Michael Valentine Smith, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Felix aka Lewis, Jack Crow.

More as I remember them.
