About Me

On May 1st 2005 I suffered a life changing event. It was a sunny, warm Sunday afternoon and I decided to take my Honda Goldwing for a ride. To make a long story short, during my ride I ended up in the ditch face down, with my bike on top of me.After a short ambulance ride and a longer Life Flight helicopter ride I was admitted to Southwest Washington Medical Center. After numerous tests, exams and MRI's it was found I had suffered a Spinal Cord Trauma at C-4 level. I was unable to move anything from my shoulders down.I spent the next 3 days in ICU and then 3 months in Inpatient Rehab. I was finally discharged and sent home on August 1st. On my return home I was able to move around in a battery powered wheel chair and required help getting in and out of it.Since then I have been going to outpatient rehab 3 days a week. I am able to walk with a cane for short distances and am no longer needing care from others. I have regained the use of most of my lower limbs and am re-learning things everyday. I have been blessed with the best therapists I could have hoped for. Without them I would be in bed being fed by caregivers. I owe them my life. Thank you J, J, L, L and A. You are the best.
