About Me

howdy y'all and welcome to the world of alexander lee thomson, me!...
i am a writer, music journalist, maybe a comedy journalist, publicist, music promoter and manager. i am as close to the brink of insanity as you'd maybe dare to touch without medication. i am jack's third nipple.
i write for notion magazine and rockfeedback mainly, while offering a music hand to red stripe... a beer company that has of late been involved with some of the most exciting music festivals in the country, namely the camden crawl and great escape.
that aside i'm a press manager with orbit pr... a small company with a roster which truly excites me; kubichek!, kate walsh, spiritualized, secret garden party, blissfields and wakestock festivals, along with the all new adventures of us (tanaou) are all projects i so utterly believe in.
i've touched on the worlds of the mainstream but find that the indie (and by that i don't mean to fashion the idea of four piece skinny-jeaned electroids) scene is far more homely, with the grace of rockfeedback and transgressive records not just offering great quality of talent (from foals, warmsley, esser and young knives), but a different class of human, also.
live music is certainly where i find my feet... my heart belonging to the sugarmill in stoke-on-trent, from my first live gig there i still owe a lot to the place through the growth of my old fanzine to the support of its establishment now. i still venture there if there's a good show on, which sadly is almost every day of the week... if only i could reserve a seat on the national express, daily. cue the devine comedy.
camden, london is my current home and though the town is becoming washed in corporate britain there's enough charm to light my candle i think
back to live music... or more so, festivals... on average i'll hit around 15 a year from the camden crawl and secret garden party to wakestock, V and leeds... i find it amazing to see the diference in local culture and how crowds offer diversity. T in the park rightly has the best crowds, but it's the boutique; like blissfields, that i think offers what glastonbury has forgotten about. love.ah, that brings me to love. it seems a stupid idea... love. if it was real then by definition the first person you love should really be the only, when we're talking about the op' sex i mean - family and friends is a different kind of love. to believe in love you have to believe that you can't fall out of love. and that's insane, though as far as my runnings have gone - utterly true. you know who you are.
neatly to my close here... i can often be found on the dancefloor or backstage at some of the most exciting shows in london and stoke... so give me a shout if you see me. i'm hard to miss. buy me a drink. tell me about your band. tell me about you. there's too many people out there, and they're not all as shit as people i'll leave unmentioned at this point.
let music speak where words fail...
when the routine bites hard
and ambitions are low
and the resentment rides high
but emotions won't grow
and we're changing our ways
taking different roads
then love, love will tear us apart again
why is the bedroom so cold
turned away on your side?
is my timing that flawed
our respect run so dry?
yet there's still this appeal
that we've kept through our lives
love, love will tear us apart again
do you cry out in your sleep
all my failings expose?
get a taste in my mouth
as desperation takes hold
is it something so good
just can't function no more?
when love, love will tear us apart... again
