Derek Ma was born and raised in America, but moved to Hong Kong before his teenage years. It was there that he embraced the fast moving multicultural city. He then returned to America after graduation and attended the University of Michigan. It was there that he couldn't adjust to life and eventually fell into addiction to drugs. He had to return to Hong Kong because everything had fallen apart, and it was in this place of desperation that he was able to receive Jesus Christ into his life. After his dramatic conversion Derek has completely given his life to the cause of Christ. After years of discipleship and training, he is currently the Young Adults Pastor for The Vine Christian Fellowship in Hong Kong. He leads one_eighty, the young adults ministry, along with his wife Janice."After being expelled from university and admitting to being addicted to ecstasy I was so full of shame and guilt that believed I had no hope and definitely no future. Through the love and grace of Jesus Christ I was given a second chance, and every day I come face to face with this new life. I made a decision years ago that after God resurrected my life, I would give everything I was to Him and His purposes. Through serving in Hong Kong I have found that the call of this new life is to impact and equip young people all over the world to live a life that truly reflects the God in every aspect of their lives."
