With a name that means musical composition in Indian, and song in Persian, it's no surprise that Tarana is fulfilling her destiny as a multitalented singer/songwriter.
As Tarana Peaches was preparing to graduate with her B.S in Biological Sciences, she placed third in Rowan University’s talent competition singing He Gave Me, one of the first songs she had written and performed in front of an audience. “Singing in front of my peers was a challenge, I sang in church before, but they’d clap no matter how I sound.†Realizing that she had a better chance pursuing a singing career than getting accepted into medical school, Tarana decided to pursue music immediately following graduation.
Her soulful voice, with its sweet operatic undertones, lends versatility to various styles of music. She has played leading roles in school productions of The Pirates of Penzance and Ain’t Misbehavin’. In addition, she has performed in New York City’s Carnegie Hall, with Rowan University’s concert choir. Yet, despite numerous years of classical training, Tarana has emerged primarily as an R&B singer.
Tarana Peaches entered the NYC Star Icon challenge, a twelve week American Idol type competition. After performing When I Think of You, a song written for her recently departed mother, and Could It Be You, one of her funky upbeat records, Tarana was crowned the 2007 Star Icon winner.
Convinced that she is ready to introduce her music to the world, Tarana Peaches is currently working on her debut album. So get ready for that chilling voice that can warm any soul, because Tarana Peaches is about to make her mark in today’s music industry.
