This group has been a long time in the making. Shiftee and Gedun met during the golden age of HipHop, listening to the likes of Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh, The Treacherous Three, Run DMC…you remember Roxanne Shante vs. UTFO? Several years later, Alyus and Propain hooked up with those two and became inseparable. Due to a shared outlook on life itself and a warped sense of morals, the four always seemed to be on the same page headed towards the same goal. Still nameless at the time, they began writing during the early 90’s as many kids do, being influenced by a new breed of MCs like the Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and Gravediggas.Gedun took an interest in production when he listened to tracks by RZA and Mathematics of Wu-Tang and scraped up the money for his first drum machine and sampler. Still, at this point, it was all for fun rhyming in high-school cafeteria and freestyle cyphas around the way…until it became clear that people were beginning to turn heads upon hearing the four dissimilar styles mesh so well with one another. As the writing continued, styles became more distinct, skills got stronger and flows got tighter.A chance placement in college completed the group. As juniors at NJIT, Gedun was placed in an adjoining room with Kuya J of Crazybeats Productions. The two clicked immediately and began working together and sharing ideas. Kuya and his brother, Ro had formed a Production company, but lacked the MCs that they wanted while the four MCs, now known as the Soul Vandals were in dire need of a production team. The dark tracks worked extremely well with the twisted lyrics the Vandals penned and other types of tracks merely expanded the MCs minds and abilities. COLLAB Creations was born. The group's first E.P. was recorded at Alkatraxx studios where the head engineer, Eli offered his council. He became somewhat of a mentor to the group and provided priceless insight…it seems that was the last piece of the puzzle.With aggressive lyrics, diverse flows, mellow poetry, mental imagery and unmatched beats that force you to bob your head, you’ve never heard sounds like this before.
