About Me

I'm a 3D artist currently working in video game development. I recently moved to Madison, Wisconsin to work for Raven Software after living in Chicago for 8 years. I am working on an unannounced game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (I'll talk about it when I can).

I am very passionate about my many different interests (see left) and my sense of humor tends to lean towards the twisted side. I have a wealth of what many would consider "useless" knowledge and am a nearly-unstoppable force at trivia games and brain-teasers.

I tend to be somewhat introverted, though I've been trying to work on that. One could say that my "social anxiety" is really full-blown neuroticism, but what would "one" know?

My Interests

Digital art, history, mythology, abstract math, astronomy, psychology, philosophy, pizza, video games, zombies, cats, dogs, spiders, frogs, monkeys, DC comics, good movies, good music, football. Go Bears!! Go Hokies!!

I'd like to meet:

People that I can learn from.

Music:

Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Oingo Boingo, Dresden Dolls, Joy Division, PIG, Recoil, Tool, Black Sabbath, HIM, Skinny Puppy, Meat Beat Manifesto, Cruciform Injection, KMFDM, Front Line Assembly, Tweaker, Rage Against the Machine, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Cure, David Bowie, Live, Soundgarden, Evanescence, Poe, and countless others depending on my mood.

Movies:

I love WAY too many movies to name. Instead, here are some of my favorites: Mulholland Drive, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Vanilla Sky, Citizen Kane, Ben-Hur, Amadeus, Kill Bill, V for Vendetta, Silence of the Lambs, American Psycho, Princess Bride, THX-1138, Blade Runner, Alien, Evil Dead 2, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead, Unforgiven, Star Wars series (especially The Empire Strikes Back), Lord of the Rings

Television:

24, Rome, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Friday Night Lights, Studio 60, The Office, The Daily Show, The Soup, and tons of stuff on the History Channel (especially The Universe). I'm also a big fan of animated shows, including (but not limited to): Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, Voltron, Samurai Jack, Invader Zim, Family Guy, South Park, Ren and Stimpy (in small doses), Powerpuff Girls, and some others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Books:

Homer's Odyssey, Beowulf, Chuck Palahniuk, Mark Z. Danielewski ("House of Leaves"...read this fucking book!!), H. P. Lovecraft, Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, J. K. Rowling, Philip K. Dick, George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, and many more. I read a lot of nonfiction too, mainly science/astronomy, philosophy and history. I am also an avid reader of Batman comics.

My Blog

red christmas

I didn't have any ambitious plans for my holiday break this year.  Plane tickets are really expensive right now, so I wasn't even going to visit my family in Virginia like I usually do.  Wit...

on being invisible

I feel like if I simply disappeared one day, no one would notice.  I mean, certainly my absence would be discussed briefly, perhaps somewhere a few amusing anecdotes would be shared about "that E...

Yep, you read that right.  After years and years of putting up with me, I figured my girlfriend should at least have the option of keeping me around permanently.  Thankfully for me that is e...

art is eating my brain

I've been feeling an overwhelming need to be artistic lately, but I have no idea how best to channel it.  For the last few weeks at work I've been painting some environment concepts for a new gam...

the VOID strikes

The Void has struck again in what can only be considered its most blatant and ambitious attempt to drive me out of my mind.  It may be well on its way to succeeding. For the uninitiated, the Void ...

apathy -> atrophy

I need to suck it up and get to work on some 3D art.  I need to create some new characters, I need to get better at high-poly modeling and normal mapping, and I need to learn Zbrush.  Why th...

who listens to this shit?

For years I've avoided listening to music on the radio, and therefore I've managed to escape the constant barrage of crappy pop and bad "alternative" (whatever the fuck THAT means anymore) that huge c...

defenders of the universe...needed!

I just picked up a really awesome collector's edition Voltron toy today.  Yes, it's quite amazing, but that's not the point.  While sitting here staring in awe at Voltron in all its lion-y g...
