Well I am winding down a very long and hard deployment to THE OTHER WAR. That one that no one seems to remember is going on. I am here serving with the 1-32 Infantry Battalion. I am the C.O.L.T. Team chief. This Battalion has redefined the way Counter Insurgency is fought we Tamed the Korengal Valley. For those of you who do not know That is the Valley that a Chinook was shot down and a Team of Navy Seals was Killed in Action. We have done so many great things here. Built Bridges, Schools, Hydroelectric power plants, Handed out school supplies, Showed the people of the region how they can live without the enemy. We Protect the people by living with them. Not just by patrolling the villages, but actually setting up Fire Bases inside of them. We have climbed Countless mountains recovered countless caches of weapons and ammunition. We are separating the enemy from the people here. We are there for them in the Rain, Snow, Heat, Cold, we teach the kids how to give high fives, Learn the Local language of Pashto and even some Farsi. With all of these Great Accomplishment comes some Bloodshed. The Chosin family (1-32IN) has lost some great men doing what they believed in what I believe in We are here Fighting Americas Fight. We where set to go home in Late Febuary 07, then the Army Decided to extend us for another 120 days. When i first heard the news I was just lost. We where so tired, worn out, i thought there was no way we could make it. But I am a leader of men, their lives depend on the decisions i make under fire, I thought to myself Dig deep Randal you have 4 more months of this to go. So I did just that I have dug deep a serious gut check as well as the whole Battalion. We have a story to tell that no one would ever believe, not even other soldiers, the only way to believe it is to see it I am here to tell you this war is very real, real american blood is spilled in these mountains. If you are interested in a few of the things The Chosin Battalion has done here and the adversities we faced, google search Afghanistan, 1-32, Kunar Province, some great articles come up. I guess im am just proud of the things i have done for this country to quote my Command Sergeants Major "if i sound proud its because i am". With all of that Said I should be heading home again shortly within the near future and Getting back together with my lovely wife Kierston, who also has shared in this adventure, and also with my beautiful and smart little Girl. I cant wait
