It took several different members to form the sensation that is SIXTY. Early incarnations of the band had them writing heavier riff style numbers and song structure with more progressive layout. Years later and four unique musicians of all different backgrounds forged a friendship based on creating an exciting new music buzz dubbed ‘Smart Rock’ and in the depths of the valleys, in a big open warehouse room they crafted their songs and sound.
The four members in question spent time honing their act and streamlining their songs and set for maximum impact and in the course of the last year have been gigging hard in some of the best venues Wales has to offer. So now we have SIXTY the more established, melodic focused bearers of songs with a spiky edge to their 3 minute wonder songs and choruses with more front and aggression.
It takes one Alan Angel on lead guitar, a guitarist of epic proportions with an arsenal of home crafted pedals to provide the swirling, crunchy mask of electric guitar. Jamie Charnely on Bass with his driving riffs and slapback solos to run the backline along with Tom ‘The Gun’ Marshall, the drummer armed with a pair of military shades providing the snappy beats, sporadic drum fills and stick flicking antics. This combination is then completed with the earthy, rasping wails of James ‘Jaystar’ Hunt on lead vocals. Armed with a microphone and wielding it like some medieval axe, he takes to stage and commands absolute attention, jumping and swinging, stirring an act of chaos in the eyes of their audience.
