I'd like to meet:
People who think that getting a job might not be the best career move.
"I think I never discussed with you why is it that I take pics of bands for free but I feel like you already understand it a little. The two main reasons are first, I'm not a professional and second, I'm trying to change the world I live in. Well, not proclaiming myself as a professional gives me the advantage of handing out pictures without having people expect a certain level of quality. So now I don't feel bad if I give away pics that are out of focus, oddly framed or too dark. Because this happens often, I don't feel like I should charge anyone for pics I can't garantee the quality. But most importantly, what really sticks at the back of my mind, even with each visit to the photo shop that costs me 50$ (films dig holes in wallets, really!) is the dream of one day living in a world in which everyone's own goals do not revolve around the accumulation of wealth. I feel like some people have to start tipping the scale towards a gift economy in which people don't sell what they have, but share it with one another. So I am one of these, screaming out "stop this nonsense!" I don't feel like what I do, this art, should be reduced to a mere commodity. How can anyone put a price on beauty anyway? And if I don't charge for my art, could people around me be inspired by such an act and start giving away whatever it is that they do best just for the kick of helping each other out? I truly hope so." -God Under Siege
