LEMON #3
"A CLOCKWORK LEMON"
OUT NOW!

In the true spirit of Stanley Kubrick, Lemon No. 3, "A Clockwork Lemon," was late and over budget. But the wait is over! The new issue is a tip of the bowler cap to the genius and influence of Stanley Kubrick, whose singular vision and obsessive mode of creativity sent long-lasting ripples well beyond the confines of cinema. Lemon 3 is our biggest issue yet and features exclusives with Malcolm McDowell, Billy Corgan, Leelee Sobieski, Gavin Friday, Pop Levi, Matthew Modine, Gary Baseman, Chip Kidd, Jill Greenberg, Goldfrapp, Damian Loeb, Jack Kirby, Allen Jones, Gregory Crewdson, Ray Bradbury, Laura Albert and Ludwig Van. Get it at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and booksellers and newsstands nationwide. Gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh, guaranteed!
MISSION
Today's publishing landscape is dominated by mega-corporate titles that trade increasingly on uninspired fashion spreads, celebrity culture, and the cross-marketing of Hollywood properties. While valid entertainment fodder, that spectrum offers shrinking opportunities for a growing audience that craves a more authentic and engaging experience. Independently owned, published and exquisitely crafted, LEMON speaks to and for a culturally curious and creative consumer. A true grassroots enterprise, LEMON's design and content are driven by gut divination and a singular innovative impulse. LEMON aims to upend category expectations by creating commercially viable products of immediate appeal and lasting value. At its core, LEMON is socially and culturally aware, positive and inclusive. Humor and beauty, commerce and craftsmanship all find a home between our pages.
PUBLISHED BY GUM
LEMON is the very latest creation from Kevin Grady and Colin Metcalf, the duo responsible for the award-winning art and design collectible GUM. GUM debuted in January 2003 to fanatical praise and rapidly sold out, and GUM2 premiered a year later to a similar response. As CBS Radio raved, "It must be seen to be believed like something you'd find in a museum shop on Jupiter. Rod Serling meets Andy Warhol meets Willie Wonka. Four Stars." Grady was previously the Design Director at Arnold Worldwide, working on the agency's Truth anti-tobacco industry account, and Metcalf co-founded RES, the landmark entertainment festival and magazine. The LEMON editorial team is completed with designer/artist Adam Larson, comic-magazine guru Ian Sattler and writer Robert Bundy.
DISTRIBUTION
LEMON is distributed in the U.S. by Disticor and is available nationwide in Borders, Barnes & Noble, B. Dalton Books, Virgin Megastore, as well as in numerous regional booksellers, smaller boutiques and specialty shops. LEMON is sold internationally at select locations.

My Interests

ABOUT:

LEMON is a new, annual publication that stakes its claim at the intersection of 60s/70s Pop and 21st century hyper-culture. Lavishly illustrated with specially-commissioned work from vaunted artists and fresh talents alike, each edition presents readers with a richly detailed and thematically-focused experience. Editorially, LEMON is vintage LIFE re-imagined for a sophisticated contemporary audience, with intricacies and lavish production values conspiring to create a print experience rare in the world of magazines.

Each release contains uncommon coverage of intriguing personalities rarely featured in more conventional publications. Surprises are the stock-in-trade at LEMON: elaborate spot varnishes grace covers, and specially-formatted inserts exude the scent of citrus. Music coverage is served up in a richly-textured graphic novel format, rendering musicians as comic book heroes who recount personal experiences in-line with the issue's theme. INTERVIEW Magazine was never this much fun!
