About Me

"When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all."
What I can't figure out is what I'm supposed to put on this Myspace dealie that won't sound narcissistic and self-promoting. I mean, if I go to somebody's web page and they've got a bunch of stuff about how they're into mountain-climbing, they've adopted an orphan in Tanzania, and they enjoy lacrosse and water polo, I'm going to think 'what a pretentious, self-centered tit!' and write them off.. But, at the same time, narcissism seems to be what this Myspace ja-bobber is all about. I suppose if I am at least honest and forthright about my self-aggrandizment, I get a few points right there.. right? So here goes: I teach martial art. I play guitar. I enjoy working in theatre but don't get enough time to do it. I study the Dharma. I love music. I am more harmful to the Earth and the people around me than I feel is acceptable, but trying to change that. I believe that the military-industrial complex will continue to wrest control of goverments from the people until we are all enslaved by our possessions and must revolt. That said, I am an optimist. I believe in the enormous capacity of humans to love, understand, and find a new way to be. I'm hopeful. I also love to laugh and do so easily. I have screwed up teeth. It's embarassing and comes from being hit in the face too much. I also like to get drunk, go bowling, jump cars, make things explode, and otherwise be totally stupid.I do not trust religions or political parties no matter how large and right they might think they are. I also do not trust any sauce named special, secret, baja, or horsey. If you've got more than a few synapses talking to each other and promise not to try and talk me into any of the above-mentioned things I do not trust, then I'm happy to talk to you. If you do not meet these criteria.. BUGGER OFF.

My Interests

music, martial art, hot rods, motorcycles, beautiful women (especially a specific one..), philosophy, stuff that flies, scuba, things that grow, Terry Pratchett novels, little fiddly bits of hardware that I fidget with and turn up in the wash, audio, sex (well I AM a guy, after all), video games, explosives, nonviolent reisistance against the military-industrial complex, firearms, the Spectacle (again.. look it up. try searching along with a name like Che Guevara), Sealab 2021, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, South Park, other assorted shows that poke fun at the above-mentioned Spectacle, my cat named Digger, boundary conditions - like the space between the land and sea or that moment just before you fall when you realize that which was supporting you is no longer beneath you, the monumental inhumanities which invariably ensue when the ethics of an individual (any individual) are applied to a whole society, milk shakes, trampolines, The Crocodile Hunter - WOT A LITTLE BEAUTY, EH??! (This last one was in here months before his death. He ranked very high on my list of personal heroes for reasons I'd be happy to explain. He will be missed.)

I'd like to meet:

David Dellinger - Look it up..
Utah Phillips - Folk singer and funny old coot
Musashi Miyamoto - Greatest swordsman who ever lived
Emporer Joshua A. Norton - If you don't know who Emporer Norton was.. BUGGER OFF!
Myself as an old man - I mean, that'd just blow your mind. You know? Or maybe myself as a little kid. I dunno.

Music:

I take music to be conclusive proof that humankind is inherently more good than evil. I love any music that is real. What's real? What speaks to you? What shakes you to the core and makes you feel your own humanity? My usual favorites are Rock, Blues, Celtic, Funk, Punk, and Polka (ok, not really polka.. unless it's Weird Al..)

The big Sept 11 anniversary

Well.. It's been five years since that morning. To me, the tremendous loss of life and the associated grief is indeed one of the worst tragedies our country has ever seen. That morning put humanity a...
