Bands, former and present: Shameless (very first band- all blue-collar covers), Free Dirt (drunk rawk), Rocket Park(poppy rawk, a la OK Go). I played bass for all those guys, as well as a short stint with the Highway Matrons (featuring the lovely and talented Fred Friction). Drum gigs included Earl (more drunk rawk- what can I say? I love it!) and Trailer Park Travoltas (contrary to what the name sounds like, not necessarily drunk rawk, more like a Mellencamp kinda groove). I switched instruments again, and am now playing for the Ransom Note, which is kinda mellow-soul. The guys in the band describe it as "Al Green meets Steely Dan". I'm also putting together a demo to try to get some touring work through a friend of mine who knows some people. Word.
1.David Gilmour, or any of Pink Floyd 2. Any person who can hook me up with a) a killer job playing music professionally, b)some way I can just make money sitting on my ass, or c) Alyssa Milano. d) Maggie Gyllenhaal. Also, this guy:
Man, you name it I'll listen to it. Anything from Mussorgsky to Metallica (pre-1990, only- after that they turned into tools). Some of my favorites are Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Wilco, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Living Things, Jeff Buckley, Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney, Tegan and Sara, Replacements, man I could go on and on. The stuff I really *don't* like is the majority of the stuff on commercial radio now(and for the last several years). It's just boring- every band sounds the same, plays the same songs, etc. I can't even listen to radio for more than a couple of minutes without being bored stupid! Clear Channel has killed the industry! Thank God for KDHX 88.1 in St. Louis (kdhx.org) for keeping me and countless others sane! On the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm also a huge sucker for 80s music. Yes, I know a majority of it was horribly produced ( and just horrible), but dammit, that's when I grew up! So there!
Back To The Future (all of 'em), Airplane!, Fletch, any John Hughes movies (Ferris, Weird Science, etc.), any dorky 80s flicks, like Revenge of the Nerds, Mel Brooks stuff, The Wall, A Clockwork Orange, Natural Born Killers, Usual Suspects, Caddyshack, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, many, many more.
SIMPSONS! (the best show in the history of television! Check this real-life intro out!) .. width="425" height="350" ..Family Guy(although lately it seems like it's trying too hard), Law and Order, and other cop shows like CSI ( although I truly believe that David Caruso is the WORST actor of all time. Yes, even worse than Steven Seagal!). I love the old classics, too (well, old to my generation); Cheers, Night Court, Cosby, Miami Vice, etc. I'm liking The Office and My Name Is Earl, too; I just don't get to see them much. Oh, and I'm always a sucker for Scooby Doo. I just found this parody "Night of the Living Doo" from Adult Swim. Friggin' hilarious, man!.. width="425" height="350" ..
What are these "books" you speak of? J/K- Mostly biographies and autobiographies. I recently finished the Miles Davis auto, as well as the Aerosmith and David Lee Roth one. Also "700 Sundays" from Billy Crystal, which was pretty good.
