The Trade on Scott Austins :90 Second Music Show
The Trade Interview with fans
..
Some look to the stage as an altar to place themselves on to be worshiped. THE TRADE sees the stage as a place to grab your attention away from the noise of the day and, maybe for the first time, get you to look around. “We’re declaring all out war” sings Chris Lopez (Vocals) on “Let It Down” calling for the end of a fragmented society where the rich and poor share the same streets but not the same lives. The guys of THE TRADE look around and see a world where people step over the homeless to be the first in line for the iPhone and then complain when they have to wait for their coffee from Starbucks.
There is hope though. THE TRADE reminds us that there are more of us than there are of them. THE TRADE shows constantly draw crowds from far and near to hear a refreshing breath of music where you definitely get more than you give. “I go right to the people” commented Chris in a recent article in the Inland Empire’s The Press Enterprise, “They are going to remember who we are at the end of the show.” When Chris Lopez, Samuel Villalta (drums), Eric Estrada (guitar), Marcos Barboza (keyboard, guitar), and Dan’O (bass) take the stage, you can’t help but be swept up in the passion and energy of music with a message. And the message is getting out. THE TRADE has played all over Southern California and with a notable performance at last year’s South by Southwest Festival, it is no surprise that radio airplay of their self-produced, self-titled CD is growing and can be heard on KROQ 106.7 and X103.9. Their CD, which sold out in eight months, can be found on iTunes.
Their recently released self-titled CD is a seamless combination of uncompromising rock, underpinnings of electronica, and deeply-felt inspired lyrics. THE TRADE doesn’t write simplistic love songs or anthems of mindless angst. Chris, the lead lyricist of the band, writes in response to what he sees going on in the world around him. Their songs call the listener’s attention to those who have been stepped on, stepped over, or otherwise ignored. “Fine Line” retells an experience where Chris “saw this lady, about an 80-year-old lady, just laying there in the street and there were these girls with their Chanel sunglasses and they were just stepping over her like she was invisible. That’s how society is, there’s a ‘Fine Line’ between the rich and poor. That picture just stuck with me and I took that experience and wrote about it.”
Speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves motivates the guys of THE TRADE. This past year, they helped raise $11,000 for an African relief fund by World Vision.
With a live show that demands participation and a sound that rises above the noise of pop clones and manufactured musicians, THE TRADE seeks to make a meaningful connection with their fans and will continue to lift them up and inspire them to greatness.
THE TRADE - Quality music for the masses.
