I am here for Friends

About Me

“When God had made the Earth and sky, the flowers and the trees, He then made all the animals and all the birds and bees. And when His work was finished, not one was quite the same. He said I’ll walk this Earth of mine, and give each one a name. And so He traveled land and sea, and everywhere He went, a little creature followed Him until his strength was spent. And when all were named upon the Earth, and in the sky and sea, the little creature said Dear Lord, there’s not one left for me! The Father smiled and softly said I’ve turned my own name back to front, and called you DOG, my friend.” --Anonymous"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." --Gene Hill"No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does." --Christopher Morley"The one absolute, unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world--the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous--is his dog....He will kiss the hand that had no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world....When all other friends desert, he remains." --George G. Vest"We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made." --M. Facklam"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." --Anonymous"Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful." --Ann Landers HAIL TO THE HOUNDHOUND PROPERTY RULES HOUND WRESTLINGHOMER THE HOUND............................................................ ...... I'd like to meet:

Gracious/genuine/sincere folk with the ability to laugh at themselves and make others laugh as well! One of my favorite movie characters said it best ... "You gotta learn to laugh, it's the way to true love." If someone, somewhere, somehow makes you smile or laugh, especially if you've had a really shitty day, always, ALWAYS be sure to thank them!!! You may not get a second chance ... think about it!!! I would also like to meet those who share a TRUE love of music and just couldn't imagine living in a world without it. It would be a fate unbearable!!!Now you may ask yourself, "How did this chick get to be a "MySpacer?" Well, I was invited many years ago by my New Jersey pal, Steve Bello. Not only is Steve witty, intelligent, and super cool, he is also one helluva guitarist. You should check out his page, especially if you're into the metal scene :)As you can very well see from my "friends" section, one of the biggest kicks I have gotten outta MySpace has been finding a lot of my favorite musicians/bands and discovering, slowly but surely, some new ones. I have a good many songs, videos and pics on me page. Hopefully, there is a little something for everyone and will make you smile ... REALLY BIG :) If not, well ... you're a moron ... my condolences!!!WILE E. COYOTE(evereadii eatibus)................... (overconfidentii vulgaris).............................. Music:

"Got time to breathe...Got time for music." --Briscoe Darling

THE BEGINNING ~~ It was a gloriously fine day back in 1970 when this extremely hip 9-year old had finally saved enough money to purchase her very first record album...thanks to a lot of bottled RC Cola and Nehi Grape Soda consumption and daily roadside scavenger hunts for discarded bottles...ya know back in the day these beauties yielded a whopping 5 cent return! And so, with my brown paper bag of rolled coins in tow, I hopped on my trusted Huffy bicycle and pedaled my way up to the famed Stereo City, a local record shop and one of my most favorite hideaways :) Of course, I already knew which album I wanted, so without hesitation, I quickly pulled it from its bin and hoisted my bag-o-cash on the counter. And the album? It was Three Dog Night's “Naturally”...and it was all mine...not one I would have to borrow from my brother’s or my Dad’s collection...but mine, all mine! I hurriedly made my way back home and headed directly for my room. And there I would sit for hours playing this album over and over and over on my suitcase phonograph. Drove my mother slap fucking crazy...but oh how I jest...she was that way long before I arrived on the scene...lol. Anyway, I would stand on my bed with hairbrush mic in hand and sing/scream unrelentlessly (especially to TDN'S rendition of the Russ Ballard ditty "Liar"). Ahhhh...good times indeed! I absolutely loved each and every song, but my favorite was (and still is today) the TDN classic "I Can Hear You Calling." And thanks to the keyboard stylings of Jimmy Greenspoon, I was even inspired to take piano lessons. Well I still have that very album and treasure it just as much as I did some 35 years ago :) It also must be said that my second favorite TDN song is “Out in the Country” which was co-written by the great Paul Williams and Roger Nichols and features some very powerful lyrics coupled with an incredibly beautiful organ arrangement...undoubtedly one of the best songs ever written and recorded. And for some very neat trivia...the band’s name "Three Dog Night" came from a story about Australian aborigines who, on cold nights in the outback, sleep with their dogs for warmth. The coldest evenings are known as "three dog nights." I like that :)

DAN FOGELBERG = Magical
August 13, 1951 - December 16, 2007
You were a gifted writer of song, a gifted performer of song, and indeed a very special human being. Your lyrics and melodies greatly touched and will continue to touch our lives. You leave behind all things good, but it was a very bad thing that took you from us. Having been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2004, you fought a courageous battle, but sadly was defeated by such an unworthy monstrous opponent. My friends, Dan’s final wish was for all men to educate themselves on the measures that can and should be taken for prevention and early detection of this horrid disease. Please honor Dan and visit www.prostatecancerfoundation.org today! Also go to www.danfogelberg.com if you are interested in reading about Dan’s life and times. And may God rest your beautiful soul, Dan Fogelberg :)

JUMPIN’ GENE SIMMONS (1937-2006)
I remember playing the Haunted House 45 a lot in my childhood days ... it ranks right up there with Gene Autry’s Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer album ... very fond memories. I recently learned that Mr. Simmons died last year. May he rest in peace ... and many thanks Jumpin’ Gene for puttin’ a smile on my face once again as I cut the rug to this great classic ... check it out on my playlist :)
Rockabilly singer/songwriter Jumpin’ Gene Simmons was born in 1937 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1958. While playing different clubs in the Memphis area in his early years, Gene’s unique style and down to earth manner caught the prized attention of Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records. It would just be a matter of days before the fast-acting Phillips would add Gene to his impressive list of stars signed with the Sun label: Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Charlie Rich. As his musical career was continuing to develop, Gene joined the famous “Bill Black Combo” as lead singer. Together, the Combo gained national attention and made appearances on many popular television shows including “The Ed Sullivan Show” and “American Bandstand.” Their performances continued to gain favor with the public until the untimely death of Bill Black. Gene soon signed with Hi Records and made a name for himself shortly after release of the whimsical and delightful “Haunted House” in 1964. The single reached No. 11 on the Billboard pop chart and launched him on a world tour. Returning to the states, the creative international star turned his talents to song-writing. Barbara Mandrell, Mel Tillis, Gene Watson, Billy Joe Spears and a host of other Nashville recording artists did Gene proud with their renditions of his songs. The 1980's saw the resurgence of “Old Time Rock ‘n Roll” abroad which brought about the re-issue of Gene’s entire catalog of recordings throughout Europe. Once again Gene would find himself touring away from home--this time bringing his 50's and 60's hits to a new generation of fans. In 1994 country superstar Tim McGraw had his first hit with “Indian Outlaw” which was written by Gene Simmons and Tommy Barnes. In the last few years Gene has had songs recorded by many of today’s biggest artists including Hank Williams, Jr. and Ken Mellons. Brian Setzer did a version of Simmons’ “Peroxide Blonde in a Hopped Up Model Ford” on his Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1: A Tribute to Sun Records. Jumpin’ Gene Simmons died in 2006 in a Tupelo hospital after a long illness. He was 69 years old. (countrymusicplanet.com; msnbc.msn.com)
