About Me

From the hollows of progressive rock, the impressionistic countenance of a band called Red Room Cinema has emerged in Tampa, Florida. Anthony Maltese (vocals/guitar), Brian Burleson (bass), and Keoni Garrido began the band in 2004. A year later, Doug Fender (keyboards) and Dave Teten (guitar) were all RRC needed to create a pentagon of sonic justice. Soon after, Red Room Cinema empowered themselves with the polarization of both the calm before the storm and the wrecking force of a cyclone. Their music follows a lyrically sporadic stream-of-consciousness. As a predominantly instrumental band, RRC is not interested in balancing themselves on the tight rope of the modern music formula. Instead, they work diligently at piecing together musical clips to create a whirlwind of sounds. "I think our music is very moody, and I think it's better when it's very ambiguous to a listener," says Maltese.
Last year, the band commenced to record at Atomic Audio in Tampa, Florida. The debut self-titled album was mixed by Andy Bosnak (The Timeout Drawer) at “The Playground” studio in Chicago, where The Flaming Lips and 90s grunge band, Hum, had previously done some work. The resulting album, mastered by T.J. Lipple (Aloha) at Washington, D.C.’s Silver Sonya Studios, beckons each listener towards the undeniable chance to employ their own imaginative devices. Without the obtrusion of words, autonomous reflection is only part of what RRC evokes. All hands that lay across this album deserve to reward themselves with a listen.
Now, after the undertaking of several performances at Tampa's New World Brewery, Crowbar, Transitions Art Gallery, The Orpheum, Ybor City Cigar Factory, Orlando, and St. Augustine, RRC will be taking on a short tour with Guiltmaker on August 10th, 2007. Afterwards, they plan to return the studio and imprint even more lasting sounds of abstract sensations. - Crystal Farina, REAX Music & Culture Magazine.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:
Anthony Maltese [Guitar, Vocals]
Brian Burleson [Bass]

David Teten [Guitar]

Mission Statement: There is a point in which words can become obtrusive when composing, sometimes lyrics and vocals don't truly add to the sonic qualities of the music. This is an understanding that we have when we write our music. We create a soundscape for you to force your imagery upon. Once a song has an identity all to itself, then sometimes we will add some vocals, but not to the extent of verse-bridge-chorus, etc.
Influences: aquanauts, astronauts, atomic bombs, asprin, authority figures (not really), beer, bengal tigers, bow echos, car crashes, carbon monoxide, chevy blazers burning to the ground, cobras, coffee, constellations, cool breezes, distilled water, earthquakes, electric eels, elephants, equal rights, flash floods, ghosts, glaciers, global warming, grizzly bears, hammerhead sharks, hangovers, hawks, haunted houses, hurricaines, hydrogen peroxide, insect repellant, insomnia, jameson irish whiskey, jellyfish, killer whales, landslides, lightning storms, lions, mad cows, migrane headaches, molten lava, money, the moon, nightmares, oxygen, paranoia, penguins, plane wrecks, pyramids, quicksand, rabbits, rain, rubbing alcohol, sinking ships, the solar system, stallions, static electricity, thunderstorms, tires and skunks, tornados, tropical depressions, tsunamis, vampire bats, volcanos, wildfires, wolves
Sounds Like: "Red Room Cinema is a band of few words. But the stories it tells with its gracefully shifting rhythms and otherworldly guitar melodies soar beyond mere verbs and nouns. The plane may be going down on the cover of RRC's CD, but its music soars on in infinity." TBO.COM
"...Red Room Cinema choreographs a dance between delicacy and aural onslaught that is both beautiful and cathartic." Susie Ulrey - Orange Magazine
"Red Room Cinema is both the calm before the storm and the wrecking force of a cyclone." Crystal Farina - Reax Music Magizine
Record Label: Self Released
