Resin Artists
Taishan Taishan began as a studio engineer in London, working with the likes of Genacide II, Tony Thorpe, Stereo MC’s and Clyde Stubblefield. His first release 'Shinjuku Drop' came out on Resin Records in 2002 and took the scene by surprise, garnering massive support by the likes of Rennie Pilgrem, Freq Nasty and the Plumps. Follow up single on Resin was 'Dub Hypnosis' which was snapped up as one of the stand out tracks on Freq Nasty's Y4K album and gained huge props from all across the breaks scene and beyond. 'Low Blow' and 'The Shake Off' were both big tunes on Resin with support and radio play throughout the world. 2004 saw the release of 'Bring De Bongo' on Resin Records, featuring the vocal talents of Scruffy D. This skanking party tune rode high in the beats & breaks buzz chart notching up glowing reviews and DJ support, consolidating Taishan's reputation as a maverick in the scene, producing high quality, dub infused club cuts with enough funk and musicality for the headphones, home stereo or car system. Last year saw the release of the mammoth breaks anthems ‘Black Mamba Funk’ and ‘No Stress!’ which have been hammered by DJ’s worldwide and have further elevated Taishan’s status as a maverick on the scene.
Freefall Collective 2002 was the year. Bournemouth was the town. A meeting of minds that was Gareth Salmon and James Pinnock, conceptually supernova’d the beginnings of Freefall. Their shared love of music birthed a dynamic mix of Breaks Dub & Funk has grown into an awesome 5 piece live band fronted by the established dance MC - Manic (aquasky/sound-trax) with the formidable backing of Simzy & Geeza on drums & Bass. Since 2003 the lads have proven their finesse in translating studio button pushing to crowd pleasing live sets dripping with funk. From raves and free parties to major London Hotspots (Astoria, Fabric, Cargo) the lads are also known for their exceptional performances on the UK Festival Circuit (Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, Lost Vaguneness, Shambala, The Glade .. to name a few!) and more recently in Europe at the Rocket Festival.
Jinx Joss and Rob Jinx have been producing together for over 4 years with an unquenchable thirst for breakbeat, their sights clearly set on making floor shaking records that would rock the foundations of the UK breaks scene. Their techy, funked-up sound has led to tunes being snapped up by labels including Burrito, Audiobug and Dead Famous. Jinx in Dub is a side project from Joss, allowing him to indulge & experiment with his love of dub and reggae beats mixing heavy, skankin, deep dub flavours with the trademark Jinx raw-edged breaks recipe, bringing a whole new angle to the dubwize breakbeat sound.
