Johnboy Lee

John Paul Lee is better known as Johnboy. My introduction to dance music came at the time when hip-hop and early fun-house sounds were the staple dance floor fillers, with the likes of Jellybean Benitez and Madonna at the helm. Let me credit Arthur Baker,BT and Frankie Knuckles as mymusical influences. I went on to obtain a Diploma in Music Production and Engineering at the Fullsail Center of Arts in Orlando, USA, in 1993, spending my last year at college on 500KZ FM as a Mastermix Jock, doing 4 hours non-stop dance remixes radio show. Not content to stop providing the American college beat, i also finished off a whole decade at clubs in Manila( Phillippines), Koh Samui (Thailand), Bali (Indonesia), Ho Chi Minh City(Vietnam), Dubai (U.A.E), Hong Kong, Shanghai (China), Kota Kinabalu, Penang and of course Kuala Lumpur. The opportunity to work in a Top 40 radio station (Hitz FM) came knocking at my door in 1996 & had a wonderful 5 years with them. The main highlights of my career has got to be the dotted line offered by Warner Music Asia as a remixer/ producer since year 1999. As a producer I have been lucky to be part of numerous high profile projects, artists including Hong Kongs elite Sammi Cheng, Aaron Kwok, Taiwans Diva Amei ,Chinas Pushu, Denmarks M2M, Russias Cheecky Girls, Germanys Cecil Louro Jones, UAEs Pierre Ravan, Australias Bardot ,Malaysias KRU, Amy Mastura, Rabanni, Trafford,D Cuzzy, Msian rapcore band Mumster and more recently China's hottest all girls group Mei Mei confidently let me Tweak their tunes to its fullest potential. Today I am juggling my production work and globe trotting as a DJ/remixer/producer. I just love the way technology has evolved and I can just DJ at The Loft, Kuala Lumpur on Friday, complete a remix for Sammi Cheng without being present in Hong Kong on Saturday, while on flight to Manila to share the deck with Tall Paul & PVD, maybe in Shanghai, the next weekend. visit djjohnpaullee.com
